It is a gesture much more intimate then a regular handshake, and nowhere nearly as offensive as an unwanted hug.

I'm still interested in how you are proposing to continue letting them show their feelings. What does that mean exactly? FR, after continuing read thru I don't like to be touched by other people. An intimate sexual partner being pretty much the sole exception to this. Most of my hugs to people in social settings are like what you're describing, flogger. I tolerate social hugging cuz I recognize that, despite my discomfort with being touched by others, it's good for me. (Especially right now, while I'm partner-less & that's pretty much the only physical contact I have with others . . . . ) When I go to a munch half the people there want a hello hug & a goodbye hug from me, & I do that A-frame hug thing & air kiss the side of their head . . .. . FYI . ... . (My own peculiarities for descriptive & comparative purposes . . .. .)
