If you are a person who prefers to remain anonymous on-line, do please put a picture of something - anything - in your profile.  This is why.

Some of us will remember a picture better than a screen name.  If I associate good memories of pleasant e-mail exchanges with a profile picture, it really helps me keep mental track of who I want to meet.

I am sure there are others who have the same experience.

What bothers me is when I get it in my head that one certain poster has an avatar, and then someone else starts using it also. Confuses me no end!

No kidding!!  I keep seeing my beautiful pain icon when it is not me.  If its early in the morning I just think of lack of coffee fuzziness..

Agreed. I certainly don't own the flag, but really, anyone else using it should be tasered.
 
And I mean that in the nicest way possible.

Can we do that now? I used to try that on profiles, all with "pictures I had taken myself," and was always turned down. Normal pictures of household objects, nothing illegal, nothing obscene. But it wasn't a photo of my face so it was rejected. Makes me feel kind of bad when I now see the guy who's posted photos from a 20-year-old bdsm porn shoot (I remember when it hit the pre-web communications networks aka bbs's) and he has the terminity to tell others that he's no longer with the busty sub in question. GR! GRR! (spoken in my best male orcish accent.) In case anyone is interested, it's the series where the deeply tanned woman's breasts are bound and someone is placing nice neat red lines across them and across her ass with a steel ruler--nice phot set, but it's been passed around everywhere for, literally, decades.

I was just talking with my pretty one this very day of putting a pic on my profile in the near future.

Pics are surely important, but an imaginative screename isnt to be underestimated. Imagination is one of those qualities which attract me.......

I am all for imaginative screen names.  I am just probably not going to remember it off the bat.  Pictures I remember.

OK, I can understand not using your face (well .. you might want to be a US Senator some day) ;) but come on, put a silhouette of your body, shadows hiding most of your face or a shot from the back. Do something real with yourself that will allow us to get a feel for you.
I'm into the honest thing. What you see is what you get. I shave my head, I'm a big guy, I'm me.
I don't intend to create a fantasy to lure someone into a discussion.
It doesn't have to be naked, but give us an idea of who you are.
If that is shallow, so be it, but that is life and that is me. :)

I'm not "looking" anymore, but when I was, it just killed me that there were so many headless pictures of bodies out there.  How was I supposed to recognize the person when I met Him?  Tell Him to strip down so I could recognize Him by His body?  That's just plain silly.  Put a picture of your face if you're going to put a picture of body parts instead of an avatar, for crying out loud.  lol

Racquelle, you are just gorgeous.

I need to see a person's face and eyes to establish any kind of relationship. It wouldn't happen without it.
You see so much when you look into a person's face.
Just my idea (I just hope my face doesn't scare too many people away)

People with no profile pic demanding people include a pic when responding.

Possibly that is a fault of your own.  Might I suggest my $2,500 class I teach in your home on word association & military memorization tactics?

Truthfully if you wish an impact you are better off than contacting your intended audience directly.

Some people remember pictures, others' words. It just makes sense to have both to improve the odds.
