Dear State Rep. McMillin (R-Lansing, MI),
I read an article on your efforts to sanction the Eastern Michigan Graduate School of Counseling and just want to congratulate you for having everything in the great state of Michigan straightened-out.  It seems I was completely mislead by the liberal, main stream media into believing that your fine state was bearing the brunt of the current economic downturn.  SOME people have even referred to it as an “economic crisis”.  AS IF!  But I can see from your efforts that all is well.  You see, I was under the impression that having an overall state unemployment rate of 15.2%* was a problem that a state legislator such as yourself would spend every waking hour trying to mitigate.  At the very least I thought you would be hard at work to lower the unemployment rate within your own district of Lansing, which is now over 11%*.

But I know how misleading such numbers can be.  So I understand that you feel the burden of boredom and must therefore find ways to fill your time.  And the Julea Ward case, or lack thereof, is perfect for you.  As I read through information about this I am continually shocked and appalled that anyone, anywhere would try to force their ideas on such an outstanding young citizen like Ms. Ward.  I can only imagine how awful it must be to have the entire college tell you how to do the work you’re training for.  After all, she’s been a student for how many years?  I’m sure by now she knows far more about counseling than any of her instructors.  And that whole “Hippocratic Oath” thing, well, really, who needs it?!  It just gets in the way of what you already KNOW is right.

But I think you’re going about this all wrong.  Thanks to our 42nd president, we already have the “conscience clause” - let's use and expand upon it.  Since we’re all about to be chipped via “RealID” I think you should use your office to push for data that will include sexual orientation.  That way, when one of THOSE types is brought into an ER, he or she can be denied assistance based on what their ID card says.  After all, No TRUE Christian should ever be forced to treat a person like that, nor any non-Christian, for that matter.  Maybe we should get religious choice added to that ID card while we're at it.

But that’s still a few years off, that whole national ID thing.  It would be much more expedient to round up everyone who claims to be homosexual and tattoo some sort of ID onto them.  Maybe a serial number on the forearm.  But why stop there?  Once we have them all in one place we should just go right ahead and “cleanse” these horrible people from society.  Once we've accomplished that, we can set to work on the Muslims.  And then all those terrorist Islamists.  Next we can get to work on the Jews.  I know, I know: it's been tried before.  But we have advanced technology now to make it much easier.  And then, finally, we can take care of the blacks.  They'll be much easier to identify because, well, they're black.

In conclusion, Mr. McMillin, I must applaud your humble efforts to bring this nation back to the place it belongs.  I understand that allowing a counselor-in-training the right to pick and choose her patients based on sexual orientation is only the smallest of steps on our way to an American Final Solution.  But every journey begins with a single step.  Congratulations on helping this great nation take one of the 1st.

Warmest regards,

~Dave

Dave - could you give a link to the Julea Ward article?

Lorr47 -> RE: To: MI State Rep Tom McMillin, Re: Julea Ward (7/19/2009 5:49:44 AM)

What makes you think that the republicans in my State can read?

thishereboi -> RE: To: MI State Rep Tom McMillin, Re: Julea Ward (7/19/2009 5:51:24 AM)

I don't know what the problem is. I remember Obama promising to create thousands of jobs before he was elected. So I am sure unemployment will be dropping any day now. After all, he wouldn't have lied to us, would he?

anatheist - all about atheism - really just a blog
studentactivism - seems to be about student activism - not quite sure what their goal is...
hollandsentinel - it's an op-ed piece
cnn - talks about the "conscience clause"

Lorr:
I'm giving McMillin the benefit of the doubt

thishereboi:
What the fuck does the current president have to do with this?!  I can appreciate snark as much as the next guy but WTF?!  Let me 'splain it to you: Michigan has the highest unemployment in the nation and this douchebag state rep wants to jack around with educational financing because some fundi-bimbo got bitch-slapped for not doing what she was told in class.  Damn! Why do you hard-core GOP'ers always have to blame every-fucking-thing on Obama?  He's been there for 6 months!  Get back to me on his failures after the 1st year.

BTW: I made a HUGE typo: GW was our 43rd president and he's the one with the conscience clause, not Clinton.

We probably would have been coming out of Bush's recession by now except that the republicans are trying to destroy the middle class and have poisoned every proposal that Obama has made.  It is at times like these that make me wish that I believed in hell because that is where the republicans should end up forever.  Well back to reading about Uncle Joe.

The only saving grace recently is how mad people are in my area about what the republicans are doing re health care.  I could see Kent County going Democrat next election.

According to our wonderful Gov. here in MI things are getting better [8|] at least that is what all of these damn commercials say. The problems here in MI began well before the national issues even popped up, and unfortunately we haven't seen the worst of it here yet. As the issues get worked out with the big 3, let's not forget where many of the jobs in our state came from, the vendors that were providing parts (new and aftermarket) and support to the car manufacturers, oh and Dow. With the shutdowns this summer, and other cuts in product lines, the shit is just starting to roll down hill and beginning to hit the vendors. I hate to say it but we are going to see 20+% unemployment here before its over.

I hope I am wrong but am preparing for the worst.

I wish you well,
Thadius

Look at the U8 figures and make two small adjustments, we have been at close to 20% for awhile.  Biden's problem is that he tends to tell the truth.  Everyone underestimated the depth of this recession.

The republicans have Palin and Michigan democrats have Granholm.  Both are dumber than a box of rocks. Hmm. Palin is from Alaska and Granholm was originally a Canadian citizen.  Could they be related?

ThatDaveGuy69 -> RE: To: MI State Rep Tom McMillin, Re: Julea Ward (7/19/2009 5:02:25 PM)

Damn, Thadius! I didn't realize how bad it's going to be in MI. Of course by that time EVERYTHING will be President Obama's fault...

It just amazes me that with all the issues we face in this country that people are wasting time on issues like gay marriage, abortion rights, and idiots like Ms Ward.

We truly do get the government we deserve :(
