The first time man ever went somewhere and then didn't go back. I feel old and sad today.

........this brings back to me one of my earlier memories. Being rousted out of bed, way after bedtime, to be shown the old black and white television. We sat and watched as the pictures came through from Nasa and Patrick Moore explained them to us..........i was 6.

i was thinking about this last night as CBC showed an interesting documentary about the potential for going to Mars. i had a vision of me, in my seniors home, watching man land on Mars......an odd top and tail to a life......

I was watching this a little earlier tonight on the history channel. It was cool to see it all again. I also had the chance to see Walter Cronkite (a shame he died last week) in part of the presentation. You could see he was quite emotionally moved by the event too. Aside from that I remember it fairly well when it all happened, but it's a shame we have not been back to the moon since the early 70's.  It's a unique feeling when you realize that you witnessed history in the making, and equally strange when I think about the fact that my kids learned about it in their history class in school.

I was three years old and can vaguely remember everbody excited as they watched the T.V. I wan't impressed in the slightest. I mean, c.mon, Superman flies around in space all the time. I remember dozing on my father's lap and then being jolted awake when everybody started claping. I grumped about it and went back to sleep.

I had no recollection of remembering that flight as I lived in Spain during that time. However, a year later, my teacher managed to have some film equipment and we saw the recording of this awesome space flight. During the spring of 1970, on a class field trip, I saw these astronauts in Madrid as they were touring different countries during that time. I remember my classmate, Michael Collins, was turned away by security as he was trying to get a autograph from Michael Collins, the astronaut.

I remember it well, though not watching it on TV, because I was living in Cambodia at the time and there was no TV there (that's right you yunguns, a place where there was no TV) but we heard it on the US military radio out of Saigon.

Afraid I missed it, being far too busy preparing for my coming out party....

I was born 3 days later and, unfortunately, it wasn't a womb with a view
