Rascalyrabbit -> How much would you pay? (2/18/2006 6:48:53 PM)

I made this cross for my slave and I have had a few people ask me to make one for them. So, I'm doing some research to figure out how much people would pay for this cross.

My suggestion is to simply tally up the cost of materials, and then figure out how long it takes you to make it and add in a figure per hour that seems apropriate. I'm a firm believer to err on the side of generocity (not being a capitalist myself) and probably would only charge materials/shipping and maybe at most 10 bucks an hour. Of course if someone wanted some sort of detailing done to it and I were so artistically inclined I might simply ask them how much they wanted to offer on top of Cost/shipping.

But I will add that if it's as sturdy as it looks you've done a heck of a nice job, and I'm sure no matter how much you charge Doms/subs alike will be enjoying them for years to come.

Very nice cross. I love the wood grain...it's so much nicer to see something not painted black!! It's a pretty piece..which dungeon furniture can be. I'm curious about the pieces of ?leather?vinyl? where the wood crosses itself? I do like the hardware used. Is the hardware on the legs of the cross able to fold flat into an indentation in the metal? Does the cross affix to the wall? or how does it remain upright? Can it be leaned and then fixed to a wall? How tall and wide is it?

Pricing: cost of wood, hardware, other supplies plus a dollar amount for your time. Your cost per hour is the crux of the matter. If your time is valuable i.e. you have three hours of time you can spend doing this, is one thing. If you have 40 hrs of week that you'd be sitting in front of the TV instead of working with wood...that is another story. If you can make these in an assembly format: cutting/staining all the wood; affixing all the hardware; adding all the trimming then you might find it more cost effective.

I have someone who makes my furniture and won't take a dime for it so I have no idea what a cross would cost. sorry to say.

Slipstreme -> RE: How much would you pay? (2/22/2006 11:36:19 AM)

Ive seen many priced from between 200-upwards of 700 dollars. Of course I don't know what the running cost is, but it seems rather high.

I am trying to make one of my own, but having some trouble figuring out what kindof hardware to use. I'll figure it out eventually.

Beautiful work though. I absolutely love the St. Andrew's Cross. If I weren't dirt poor, I'd buy one.

That is a very nice cross. Good luck in selling them.

We bought our cross from a friend (at a discount of course). She made it from the pattern in the "Better Built Bondage Book" (collapsable, easy to store, etc.) and she sold them at a fet show for $250 canadian (about 200 american). Yours looks more sturdy and the wood seems to be of better quality, I'd say you could $200-300 american easy.

The quality of those are awesome, Depending on the type of wood you are using, will greatly depend on the price. Pine, would start about 350.00, Cherry would probably be in teh 500.00 range, Oak would be close to the 650.00 range, and Maple would be near the 800.00 range. I would suggest that you pruse some of the bondage sites that sell this type of equipment, and go from there. Like another said the prices vary, and if the craftsmanship is there, people will pay the price. One place to check would be toys4lust, it's a com site that has homemade furniture. Good place to check styles and prices. Good Luck! [:)]
