My dear fey......

Remember always that not just the stemware is important.  The style and grace in which these things are done is more important than any crystal.  The palm of the hand, the angle of the head, the position of the eyes are just as great as this.  A drink can come in the prettiest glass in all of the world, but served incorrectly, it will lose it's allure.

Personally, I like My drinks served in formal style.  Palm of the hand serving the glass, steadied with the other only if there is a stem, kneeling upon presentation, eyes lowered, glass raised.  The drink itself depends on the prior events of the evening.

For smoking, butane is preferred in My case.  I do happen to like flavored tobaccos.  The key is to find the right match for the drink.

As for safety issues, this is one place that a lot of us fail.  We're quick to ask bottoms about their health concerns.  This isn't always true the other way around.  Is it not in the bottom's best interest to know if the top has health issues?  What if that top has heart problems, diabetes, or some other physical ailment?  How many folks play with tops and they don't know their medical history, even though we preach it that every top should know these things about the bottom?

If you would like, when I'm good and settled, I'll send you some notes that I have on the matter.

Wonderful post LadyP!
I have noticed that asking about the health of the Top/Dominant partner is rarely discussed on the boards.

I guess it is assumed that the Dominant is always in perfect health {physical and mental}, always in the "mood" and raring to go, and infallible!

I'd be very extatic to have any note on the subject LadyPact [:)]

Thank you SO much for the offer.

Very interesting thread!

softness -> RE: Care and Feeding of Leathermen 101 (7/22/2009 7:33:37 AM)

I am under consideration as a Leather submissive and serve an extensive Leather family. I serve three Dominants. Though single malt and cigars feature highly on Sir's list of requirements with Ma'am it is freshly brewed tea (Ringtons, semi-skimmed milk, bone china cup) I serve many others in addtion to my Dominants and all of them drink, smoke and eat different things, each of them have their own medical or personal needs.

I think if you attempt to teach a class on what to feed and water Leathermen with it will either be the longest lecture in history - or the least helpful because each persons preferences are their preferences not someone else's. IMHO opinion it would be better to teach the vital aspects of service. Teach vigilance, teach observation, teach attention to detail, teach anticipation. Teach respectful and graceful means of serving. Teach the art of discreet enquiry and record keeping. With those tools one can serve anybody - Leatherman, vanilla guest, Queen of England.

If I had to make a choice, I would rather have this, rather than a certain glass.

Of course ... because with those things even a plastic cup will convey the same devotion of service.

As for the alcohols, its rare I dont see someone drinking scotch or whiskey at the Eagle.

Sorry I thought for certain you were making a joke with this thread and responded in kind. A number of the likes and tastes you metioned are shared by non-leathermen, obviously.

I miss having a cigar smoker in the house. I enjoyed the smell, and the brilliant and hiliarous copy in the JR catalogs was somemthing to look foward to He preferred aged port. Perhaps there's something about the taste combination of the cigar and a liquour that's particularly nice. He also preferred to cut and light his own, so I never picked up either of those skills. I really did wish he'd given me more ashtray time, though. :)

I spent a lot of time for a few years at an "Eagle." Such places make make wonderful no-pickup-stress hangouts for women who don't mind the occasional (often jealous, I used to think) appellation of "fag hag." By any chance doo you know why the local leather bar in many places is so frequently called "The Eagle?"

This thread is making me inspired to want to take up pipe smoking again. Suddenly getting flashbacks to a nice cherry cavendish...

First clove... now cherry cavendish.... *fans myself*

Woosh.. Carry me back to ole' Virginny...

Frankly, I am not a huge fan of cigars -- but a pipe... clove or clove and vanilla cigarettes... Well... those and English Leather can go a LONG way with me!

Dame Calla

I think pipe tobacco is often more fragrant than cigars. My favorite of my former owner's pipe tobaccos was an Iroquois-made Northern Woods blend. I liked to open a package of that stuff and just inhale. It's weird to be a non-smoker who loves the smell of smoke. Other non-smokers tend to regard you as insane.

He preferred aged port.

10 points.

Wait...the points would actually be his, though. *scratches head*

Oh well, you mentioned it. You get the points. [:D]
