Hawkwindblues -> Extreme hot water play (7/22/2009 1:13:26 AM)

In our home my husband does the cooking. It was on the 13. of July in the evening and i was standing at the sink. Suddenly i felt something extreme hot at my back. I cried and pulled my dress away from my back and ran in the bathroom. Standing in the tub i let cold water run down my back. Seconds later my husband came also loud shouting in the bathroom and started to cool his hand with cold water.

What happened? He thought that i had left the sink and came swinging around with the cooking noodle water pot to seperate the noodles and the water. In the last moment he saw me and tried to move it in the other direction, that was the reason i got only a part of the water and he got the water over his hand.

After half an hour i made an emergency call and although i said it was a cooking accident, they came with 4 police officers and 2 RTWs. The police was quick gone, after i said again and alone that it was a cooking accident. One the RTWs brought us to the hospital. I got there luckily something against the pain, that had the effect that i nearly passed out.

All in all we were lucky, everybody told us. We have first and partly second degree burning. A part of my back is just now only beginning to heal, Michaels hand is since yesterday not any longer looking like a cooked lobster. They said if we had not cooled with water so quick and long it would have been much worser.

Since last Monday we have heard every joke about it, that i can imagine. Some friends are looking out for cold kitchen cooking books. Other pour the hot coffee for us, only if we are at least 2 metres away. For a red chain, like it is used here at building sites is money collected. Our S/M inclined friends told us, that they always thought we were edge players, but that we went to far that time.

We have to start our summer vacation a bit later, but all in all i am very lucky that it turned out like that.

Sunshinemiss,

the raw food movement goes very good together with the cold kitchen cooking book. As i ordered the next evening food from the chinese man (that is the name of the restaurant/delivery service), Michael looked a bit miffed and said: "I know your plan, you do not want me to cook ever again."

Ocaenwinds,

on the evening dinner plan are really spahetti, but i will stay out of the kitchen.

Dangerous in the extreme. You are both very lucky. I hope you recover without scarring.
