I'm not sure if it's amazing or just amusing how many Doms have journal entries whining about how rude the people are on collarme. Or have become so frustrated by the collarme etiquette (or lack thereof) that they say variations on "if someone sends you an email, you should email back even if you aren't interested." It's easy enough to tell if someone has read your email by hitting the sent email button. If they have read it and haven't responded, they may well be uninterested and rude. Annoying? Ok. Aggravating? Ok. But so what? I've yet to come across a profile where complaining about this doesn't sound like a teenage girl having a hissy fit because her bf didn't call her. That is NOT an attractive visual when I'm reviewing someone's profile to see if we might be compatible.

just so ya know, mm1... there ARE ways to read an email without it showing that it's been read. But I do agree... someone going on and on about how other people dont behave to THEIR expectations is seriously 7th grade.... LOL

MNottertail - the interesting thing is that I can't remember seeing anything like this on any woman's (Domme or sub) profiles. Which isn't to say it doesn't exist. And as far as whining being in the purview of women slaves - all I can think is any slave that whines is going to be sorry sooner rather than later.

I have learned that you need to be like a fisherman; cast your line into the water and wait for a nibble. I found somebody maybe 6-8 weeks ago that I messaged. She read it and I never heard back so I figured she was not interested. No big deal. Then a few days ago she writes me saying that she has taken the time to read through many, many messages and had at long last decided that I was the most sensible one in the stack. We have had a pleasant exchanges since. Would flaming her for not responding more promptly been counterproductive? Almost certainly I would have gone onto her growing trash pile and lost any opportunity to meet somebody new.

You are correct that a profile is an inappropriate place to complain about other users. You know what's worse? Complaining about other people complaining. You don't sound any more grown up than they do. Who are you to judge and insult them for judging and insulting others? Your only saving grace is you did not put it in your profile. If I go up to a person and politely say hello, it is polite for that person to respond. It is rude to turn away. It's also rude to flame and rant. But guess what - the internet is full of rude people and as such many people feel it is OK to act rude. But that does not make it polite to ignore polite messages, anymore that it is polite to rant (whether it is against rude email practices or whiny profiles) It's not about knowing if they respond, anymore that it is about the rant being right. It's about acting like a human being, not an arrogant SOB/DOB.

Strong Spirit - and you prove just how inappropriate you feel MY behavior is by repeating the same behavior. That's an interesting way to make your point. In a failing sort of way. So it's okay for YOU to complain about MY behavior. Who is it exactly who is being arrogant? Would it be okay for me to call people names, because you did it in your post? Because if you do it, then it's ok - that's what I'm getting from your post. I agree that not responding is impolite and wasn't arguing that point. Who am I? I am mischiefmaker1 and not only do I believe it is very appropriate to rant in certain forums - I also believe using humor to make a point is even MORE appropriate in many forums. But you would need a sense of humor to get that. I hope that arrogant comment was meant for me. I've never been called arrogant before and it's kinda nice.

Ive noticed it as well, both Dom(mes) and subs. usually starting with the words "cant you people read"? Instead of worrying about the inappropriateemails I get or the non answers, I worry about the ones that I DO like and the good answers. I guess the fact that Im a fisherman has something to do with it. You dont catch fish with every cast or even every day... most of the fish you DO catch will be tossed back but eventually, if you do things the right way and are patient, there is a trophy out there for you. THAT is why W/we are here

There's an award? I'm very excited. I can't wait to put it on my mantel. For that matter, it would be nice to have a mantel. And Hillwilliam makes a good point. It's a journey and nobody should expect to find anyone quickly. It is just frustrating that there are so many small fish.

As I said in my journal entry on the subject. If you got time to be rude to someone and bash them and block them and declare the number of people you've blocked at the start of your profile(as one woman actually does) You got time to send them a polite message saying thank you but not interested. Reason I hate the internet #32 People seem to think they can check common courtesies and ettiquete at the door when they go on the net.
