Termynator will be your guy here I'd bet; but I wouldnt be surprised if it were very difficult indeed for the moment - I would bet they're saving the fully internet compatible TV for the next big must have marketing event

If you have either an HDMI or S-video connector on your television, then you buy the appropriate cable.  You will then need to use the menu on your television to switch to the HDMI or S-video mode.  Voila.

The easiest thing in the world, actually.

If your TV is a flat screen, as long as you have a common connector type between your PC and your TV, just get the cable that matches, and viola, your TV becomes a monitor for your PC.

Get a wireless mouse and keyboard (with some range, preferably), and away you go.

Most modern TV's have a VGA input, or a HDMI, DVI or even SVideo.

If you have a TV with a VGA connection, most PCs (all, I think) should just need a cable. Many later PC's have a HDMI or DVI video connection, which later TV's also likely have.

In some cases - especially laptops - you might have an Svideo output.

For the audio, you can run external speakers from your PC, or if you have audio input on your TV, run audio cables from your PC to your TV. Just make sure to get the right type of connectors on either side of the cable.

Agreed; everything they said.

To add, those with older TVs without DVI or other input of that type can purchase a box that will go into a regular video jack. Mine was fifty bucks. It picks up power from a USB port, has a pass thru VGA connector and provides both composite and Svideo. Got it from Global Computer, but I am pretty sure they are out of them now.

Note that these boxes convert everything to 480i, so the output will not be HDTV. You will get a better picture if you have the right inputs/outputs. You might have to set the resolution though, depending on the TV. I've seen a few plasma TVs that were strictly 720p, and others that could display just about anything but 720p. The manual might help, if you lost it alot of the time you can download it in PDF format.

The sound I handle differently, everything goes through the stereo. I don't like the cheesy sound on most new TVs. I know why they sound like that, it's because they have a midrange inverter in some of them supposedly to enhance voice clarity. I just don't like the sound. The other advantage is that you can use the sound without the big TV.

Anymore questions ? We'll be here.

The hard part is figuring out which cords and connectors you need. And they're expensive. My stepson did this and he had to keep going back to Radio Shack for something else.

My flat screen is a Sony Bravia

Warcraft is sick as hell...

I have an HDMI...  But, I also have a standard monitor cable hookup - whatever one wants to call that.  I went to cables.com and bought me a 24 foot monitor cable now the shit be hooked up.

Almost all new tv's have a HDMI, or VGA input, and every newish laptop I've scene has a VGA out, so either, get a 5 dollar VGA cable on ebay, and just plug it in your laptop and tv, or get a HDMI convert thing, probably 5 dollar range to, and connect it to the the cable.

I'm actually do what you describe right now, as I'm writing this, I just use a a LCD TV, as my monitor all the time, there really is no distinction anymore, it's just I can hit a button on the side and switch it back to TV.
