My Dom said something the other day that started me on a train of thought. Now I have a questions. The main question is what is the differance between a submissive and a slave? Is there major differances or minor? Is one inferior to the other? Is this a question based on opinions or is there definite differances? I am just trying to get a deeper understanding to this terminology? Thanks in advance for all your honesty.

Before posting i did hit the research button at the bottom. I must not of used the right wording. But i also realize the other questions i have asked in regards to this topic. I am newly learning and not trying to irritate anyone on the forums. I apologize if i did. The one a couple of threads down did not pop up in my search and i happened to over look it. I apologize for that as well. But there really is not any answers to that questions considering many others on this forum decided to merely make fun of the typo then to answer the question. One thing that did get answered from that thread was it is indeed a differance of opinions. So with that being said i am interested in hearing the opinions of the current members today on here not the ones from five to ten months ago that may not even frequent the threads anymore. Thank you.

The one below was bad spelling so it's pretty much a given it wouldn't show, so don't hassle.  The question you asked is simply one that gets rehashed over and over on the forums, so don't hassle yourself about it.  Try the second link in particular, LA posted a lot of links in that one.

There is no inherent difference save what you as a couple decide.
I am no different now as I was when I identified as submissive.

Sorry, I really didn't mean to be snarky.

My opinion is, that they are just terms that we use to make ourselves feel better.

OP, it's kinda hard because everyone has their own definitions as it relates to their own personal dynamics. Daddy calls me submissive yet some would call me slave based on our dynamic. Neither one is better than the other, they're different viewpoints. Me, I can see where I identify as a sub with slave tendencies. One way that Daddy described His view of it before He collared me was:

A sub has conditional intent where with a slave, trust is the only definitive; rational limits are set by the Dominant.

But that's just our viewpoint, as you'll hear around here at times, "your mileage may vary."

The main question is what is the differance between a submissive and a slave?
- only in how you define it for yourself

Is there major differances or minor?
- only in how you define it for yourself.

Is one inferior to the other?
- No

Is this a question based on opinions or is there definite differances?
- each person defines how they see themselves according to their own situation and circumstances.

I am just trying to get a deeper understanding to this terminology? Thanks in advance for all your honesty.

I will just comment that I do not ever believe anybody is inferior to anybody else, regardless of gender, any kind of orientation, etc etc.  Everyone is equal in standing and it shouldn't be any other way.  Unfortunately, the world is not so kind and I do understand it not always the way I would like to see it.  Alas, please let it be so in the BDSM community...

Opinion only.

Some people need to view others as inferior, doesn't say anything about the one they are being dismissive of. Says a lot about them - all bad.

Hello Born2BMasochist. The way I see it you cannot compare a submissive to a slave. A slave is a submissive who submits in the slave style (as if, similar to, in the style of etc). A dom ''daddy'' has a submissive who submits in the ''little girl'' style. I wish people would stop seeing styles of submission as some sort of level or degree of Ds. Slave master interaction is only a way of expressing the submissive heart, but it is not the only way.RL.

now we got styles?

i know i have style... im so freakin cute and cuddly (unless im pms'ing)

as far as submissive style vs slave style (no one better start a thread with that!) ~shudders~ style dont have jack to do with it. What does is how the Dominant part of the relationship views the submissive part of the relationship....................... and to hell with what anyone else thinks.

personally, for my very own self, i dont care.  i know i'm happier taking care of him while he takes care of other things.  he doesnt HAVE to explain things to me, although most of the time he does.

he DOES make the final decisions...it makes things better in the long run.  i do get asked my opinion, and sometimes he ends up deciding to go with what i have said.  but that's still him making the decision, even if his decision is to make me decide.

he says i'm his sex slave.  i'm his wife.  i'm *his*.  anything more is just extras.
