Oh, you big uber-man, you . . . . . You're so tough & macho when you minister to the n00bs . . . . .

Feel better, now?

To make this very clear, this post in no way justifies words like "nice really", "cuddly", "big softy" or "heart of gold" being used in conjuction with me.  I'm looking at you Kia!  Try it and I swear I will fucking hunt you down.  [8D]

Was it the 'adorable' that pushed you over the edge?

*snicker*

*delicately ignores provocations to be any more of a smart-ass than I already am -- at least for the moment*

OP, one of the most useful life-skills you can acquire is the ability to not let other people's opinions get to you. A thicker skin protects you, that kinda thing . . . . .

My number one tool for letting others' ignorant / malicious / whatever opinions roll off of me is a sense of humor. I find that learning to laugh at that stuff really helps to take a lot of it's power to hurt me, away . . . . . & being able to laugh at myself is an important center to my sense of humor . .. .. If I take myself way too seriously it makes it much easier for my feelings to get hurt, in my experience . . . . . .

My other big tool is to educate myself thoroughly about those things I'm interested in, in part so I can spot when spouted opinions are ignorant. Then I can laugh, inside if nothing else . . . .

fadedshadow -> RE: okay? (7/27/2009 7:38:46 PM)

thank you, demonkia. i will certainly keep your suggestions in mind

DemonKia -> RE: okay? (7/27/2009 8:23:12 PM)

Fadingshadow, I'm kinda super-sensitive & can get my feelings hurt pretty easily, & I've had to work at this . . . . . I continue to work on this, probably 'til the day I die . .... & like anything worth having, it's not necessarily an easy skill set to acquire . .... . But it has made my life more pleasant to work at not letting people offend me . . . .

As I like to say, the offense is as much in the taking as in the giving. If I really wanna bug someone who's trying to be offensive, I don't take the offense that's offered . ... ..
