ORIGINAL: DarkSteven This is weird. The site loads fine for me in IE, but when I try to load it in Firefox, it reverts to a search for "p". Is this just me, or do others have the same problem? It's been happening to me for years, first with Netscape and now with Firefox. I think that when I tested IE, it did the same, but that was several years ago so I don't recall for sure. I hate IE, so I rarely even crack it open for a test. But at any rate, the only time it happens with me is when I've already been logged in, and my login has expired or I've closed out Alt and am now trying to reopen it. I'm thinking that means it's a cookie issue, but I don't know enough about computers anymore to know for sure. There are some back doors that I've found. If the browser is already open to Alt, and you get the "searching for p" when you try to refresh the browser because your login has expired, click the "back" button to take you back to the Alt.com page. Then click on either the "home" button near the top left corner, or the Alt.com banner at the top of the page. One or the other almost always works, but not the same one every time. Of course. Because after all, it's Alt.com. It wouldn't be Alt.com if it worked the same way every time. On the rare occasions that neither works, clicking on another button near the top, like the "hotlist" button, will usually work. If you're just trying to log in to Alt with a fresh session, and you get the "can not find p" crap, there's a more elaborate backdoor that always works. Open a search engine, like Altavista, and enter the Alt screen name of a known user, along with the word "alt" in the search string. One of the hits that comes up will probably be to that user's Alt profile. If you don't get one, keep trying known Alt usernames until one does come up. Then click on that link; it will take you to the "vanilla-ized" profile of that user, and there'll be a "member login" button near the top of that page. Clicking on that member login link has always allowed me to log in. Pretty fucked, eh? But that's Alt. Good luck with these back doors. If they don't work, I can probably find some more.
