Apocalypso -> Blogging Software (7/26/2009 12:27:17 PM)

Does anyone have any knowledge of what's out there?  I'm looking at starting a (mostly non-kink) blog, after some very flattering prodding from somebody on a blog I comment on.

I'm not looking for bells and whistles.  Just functional.  I'm pretty competent with a computer, but I'm not a techie by any means.  Bit of basic html, but not much else.

you want to create an own website to blog?
or just blog. Most websites that allow you to blog have their own build in software. Hardly need for anything else.

Just blog, but I'm wanting to be able to do stuff like link to other blogs etc.  So I'm mostly looking at the specific blogging sites, rather then wanting to build something from scratch.  Thanks!

blogspot.com  livejournal.com and wordpress.com are also popular

TurboJugend -> RE: Blogging Software (7/26/2009 12:38:25 PM)

why not blog on CM in the journals

it is the same and you will have hardly problems with 18+ stuff

Apocalypso -> RE: Blogging Software (7/26/2009 12:44:56 PM)

Thanks everyone.  I'll check those sites out.  :)

I already do a fair bit, but this has slightly different aims.  It's more for the standard blogosphere stuff- mostly writing about politics with a bit of occult and music thrown in for good measure.

So I want a site that's not specifically BDSM related, so it gets a different audience.  And I want to be able to enable commenting as well and link to some of my friend's blogs.

TurboJugend -> RE: Blogging Software (7/26/2009 12:46:28 PM)

ah  ok
yes then it is better to have a seperated one

there are many blog websites...just try google with "blogging" if you don't like the ones mentioned earlier

Musicmystery -> RE: Blogging Software (7/26/2009 12:55:35 PM)

Hello,

What you describe is very simple, basic stuff, easily done. The sites already mentioned are all good choices.

Also--there are MANY bloggers' groups, all with vigorous discussions/tips, all easy to find on Google.

Have fun!

We use blogger and would recommend it.  You can link to all sorts plus there are hubs etc.
We have LJs too, but it's lost it's edge a bit.  Gets a bit myspacey.

Another alternative to Livejournal is Dreamwidth (www.dreamwidth.com).  It's in invite-only mode right now, but you can get a free invite code by responding to any of the offers of codes here:  http://dw-codesharing.dreamwidth.org/

Apocalypso -> RE: Blogging Software (7/26/2009 2:50:03 PM)

Again, thank you to everybody for your help and good wishes on this.

@ dark

Yeah, I have an LJ kicking around (it's where I know the basic html formatting from) but have decided to look elsewhere for those reasons.  The whole "why have you not added me to your friends list when we are friends!" issue is a drama llama I can do without...  [8|]

RCdc -> RE: Blogging Software (7/27/2009 1:57:43 AM)

If you get a blogger, let me know and I'll add you as a friend... [:D] bwahahaha...
Nah.... fortunately that isn't an option as such (which is why I like it)  But I like that you can post links to sites, hubs and blogs ya like.  I have a writer/friend who uses it pretty prolifically and she rocks and hers is a really good example of what you can do with it - kind of journalistic in a sense.  I'll mail you the addy on the other side if you want to have a peak at it, just let me know.
