Although I've never had a chance to live that long with my S.O., last summer we lived together for a couple of months while he was doing an internship and I taking summer classes. More recently, a short while ago we were able to go on a wonderful 9 days where we were together the whole time. We do get to see each other at least once a month usually, but even then it can be hard to get to spend time with him and go on actual dates, and then go back to not seeing him for a long time. I know it was a big adjustment after last summer, though being in school did help and knowing that eventually we'll be together. It also helps that we talk online or by phone every day, even if it's just long enough to say hello and make sure everything's going okay. We also use web cams to talk on Skype, usually at least once a week. Playing the occasional game on yahoo or playing a bit online also helps. Maybe because I'm used to the arrangement, but although I get lonely occasionally because he's not here in person, I usually get the most upset when he has a major deadline and for a couple of weeks we only get to talk for a few minutes when we do talk. It's harder, but there are ways to try to make it work. I wish you luck. Also, you might ask your Master if they have specific ways he wants you to keep in touch or things you might do to help you feel connected even when you can't physically be with them.
