Aneirin -> Calenders ? (7/27/2009 11:07:26 AM)

Calenders, those things that let is know the pattern of days that are coming up, hopefully so that we may be able to plan things. Is it just me, or is it  a problem for others, the planning for future events ?

It seems I can't plan ahead more than a number of days, give me a date, and I am lost, say something like three days, then I know where I am at, anything more than that, and it escapes my attention.

Maybe it is I am happiest taking each day as it comes, and things that are future are uncertain and anything that is uncertain to me, needs stabilising, maybe it is I worry and so put the worry out of mind, I don't know, is anyone else like this ?

purepleasure -> RE: Calenders ? (7/27/2009 11:17:16 AM)

I use calendars all the time, from keeping track of which bills I can pay out of which paydate, to appointments and birthdates.  I would truly be lost without my daily planner.

GreedyTop -> RE: Calenders ? (7/27/2009 11:18:16 AM)

I'd be SO screwed without mine

subtlebutterfly -> RE: Calenders ? (7/27/2009 11:21:27 AM)

I don't plan..I just...don't. The only time I use calendars is at work 'cause I need to make plans for the customers.[8|]
I plan the dentist & salons..that's it.

Rainfire -> RE: Calenders ? (7/27/2009 11:22:54 AM)

[sm=runaway.gif]  I'm lost without some form of planner, either a small purse sized one or my cell phone, plus a large calendar on the wall for birthdays. When I used to use a Franklin Planner, I called it my "brain". It literally had my life in it....

CatdeMedici -> RE: Calenders ? (7/27/2009 11:46:19 AM)

I not only plan the family calendar, days and months ahead, but I have the horses schedules, as well as work which is at any one time 25-30 countries in 12+ time zones----that would send you to the looney bin. [8D]

calamitysandra -> RE: Calenders ? (7/27/2009 12:34:32 PM)

I would be wide open for (even more) chaos without my planners and calenders. But then, I (try) to keep track for 5 persons. When I was single, I did not need one either.

DomMeinCT -> RE: Calenders ? (7/27/2009 1:31:12 PM)

My planner helps me plan ahead and not overbook commitments, so ultimately I have more flexibility and fewer crises.

subtlebutterfly -> RE: Calenders ? (7/27/2009 1:33:45 PM)

what would the world be without a couple of crises clashes and panics[;)]
The only time I've tried to be organized and planned...everything ended up in a major chaos[8|]

FullCircle -> RE: Calenders ? (7/27/2009 1:41:57 PM)

If you don't record upcoming events in some kind of electronic or written record it is hard to keep track of things and you will find yourself living day to day...yes. Birthdays for instance I don't need to be reminded of them when I've written them down because it then sticks in my mind that I've done that. Kind of like some people like writing lists of things to do but they never need to read the list because just the act of writing it helps them to remember.

I should have said that I have fewer planned crises.  Hah!

Fnordstrum -> RE: Calenders ? (7/27/2009 2:56:38 PM)

I pretty much remember anything I need to remember on my own, the only things that matter being Doctor's Appointments/things in that vein, and then I just keep the card that they give you with the next appointment date on it in to double check the date. The only time I use a calendar is at work, to put when I need the day off or whatever.

I'm not really a fan of planning too much stuff ahead of time, unless you have to. (Such as for Otakon, need to get a hotel room before they're all booked, plus it's not like the date is going to change after they announce it, so.. yeah)

Wait till you reach the wonderful 40's. [:)] I wouldn't be able to find my arse without my calender/planner these days.

littlewonder -> RE: Calenders ? (7/27/2009 3:22:36 PM)

I would love to be able to make plans and make my life easier to manage. Unfortunately every single time I do make plans further ahead than a week, something comes up and I have to change the plan or someone does something that interferes and again I have to change the plans.

It's extremely frustrating to me and why I've given up on my calendar.

pixidustpet -> RE: Calenders ? (7/27/2009 3:42:20 PM)

i asked TheEngineer what plans we have for saturday.  he said "none that i know of, why?"  i told him to check his calendar.  "nothing marked, whats special about it?"

i raised one eyebrow delicately.  "my birthday"

oops.  [;)]  i told him later that if i was a vindictive kinda person, i would have let the day pass without saying something.  as it is, i gave him plenty of room to think about something.  (his birthday was already marked on my calendar.)

kitten, still laughing about that.

Sunnyfey -> RE: Calenders ? (7/27/2009 3:46:00 PM)

Palm Pilots are your friend, you always have it, the calander (if you imput it!) will tell you exactly what you need to know. and you have it right there when you need it, or someone tells you about a date!!

Aneirin -> RE: Calenders ? (7/27/2009 7:40:47 PM)

I tend to live day to day,w hat comes up, is dalt with, but things in advance, I worry about

GreedyTop -> RE: Calenders ? (7/27/2009 11:10:34 PM)

While I said I'd be screwed without mine, I guess I should clarify.  I use it to remind me when bills are due, b'days, appointments and such.

Otherwise, I go with the flow (not that my 'flow' varies much... sleep, work, lather rinse repeat...)

slaveboyforyou -> RE: Calenders ? (7/27/2009 11:17:58 PM)

I'm a day to day person for the most part, but I do use the calendar in my cell phone quite a bit to remind of things. Bills, dates I was supposed to do something important, etc. I pretty much remember everyone's birthdays. For example this Thursday is my birthday! [8D]

This irritates me... about me! This is my least favorite trait about myself. I've tried to do the planner book thing, but I just can't...
I wish I were a lot better about that.
