Funny you should mention it. I can't seem to get Black Sabbath's "Paranoid" out of my car stereo these days. I had it cranked so loud today, I turned the floor AC on to keep the amplifiers cool (I've got one amp under each front seat.) I know, i know, to some of you, Black Sabbath is what Lawrence Welk used to be to me, but shit. I like what I like.

DavanKael -> RE: Heavy Metal? (7/27/2009 11:09:55 PM)

Metal head since I was a kid!  :>
Favorites?  Hmmmm, Marilyn Manson, Danzig.
Wearing a Motorhead shirt as I type, though they're not one of my favorites, however they have a couple of awesome songs.
  Davan

GreedyTop -> RE: Heavy Metal? (7/27/2009 11:12:43 PM)

Savatage, Black Sabbath (great, Panda, thanks.. now I have War Pigs running through my head), old Metallica, Motorhead, Queensryche, Fates Warning, Leatherwolf...

"Silent Lucidity" is one of a half dozen songs I use to calibrate a stereo system whenever I tweak the settings or add a new component. What a friggin' voice he has!

GreedyTop -> RE: Heavy Metal? (7/28/2009 12:08:00 AM)

Davan.. oh HELL yeah!!

I have mixed feelings about Silent Lucidity.. although yeah, I can see it would be good for calibration.    Try THIS

sugargirlxxx -> RE: Heavy Metal? (7/28/2009 12:20:56 AM)

UglyTruth -> RE: Heavy Metal? (7/28/2009 2:54:36 AM)

I recommend a healthy dose of Gojira.

Start here.

Level -> RE: Heavy Metal? (7/28/2009 3:50:39 AM)

Black Sabbath - any Ozzy or Dio led album, esp. Vol 4 and Heaven and Hell
Megadeth - Rust in Peace
Slayer - Seasons in the Abyss

Suicidal Tendencies, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Nine Inch Nails, Tool, Pantera, Down, Alabama Thunderpussy, Sepultura, Ministry, Dead Horse, Skatenigs, AC/DC, KISS, all good shit.

beargonewild -> RE: Heavy Metal? (7/28/2009 5:57:11 AM)

Manowar
Judas Priest
Black Sabbath
Iron Maiden

mdr080480 -> RE: Heavy Metal? (7/28/2009 6:32:45 AM)

Danzig
Six Feet Under
Pantera - listening to Pantera, Phil Anselmo's screaming, I was blown away when I first heard Far Beyond Driven, still get shivers when I play them, plus it gets me in a mode to fight, or work out.
White Zombie
Marilyn Manson - don't know if he is even considered metal, but I been a fan of the band through the various lineup changes, since a friend turned me on to them in the mid 90's.
Motorhead
Cannibal Corpse
Slayer
Black Sabbath
Metallica
Type O Negative
Biohazard

Not all too familiar with much of their stuff, but: Megadeth, Iron Maiden are great, what I've heard of em.

Maybe not so much metal these days, but been a fan since '89 bands: Guns n Roses, Motley Crue, and been known to glam it up with some Poison playing.

hejira92 -> RE: Heavy Metal? (7/28/2009 6:37:20 AM)

[looking around for Master..... He should be here anytime now]

GreedyTop -> RE: Heavy Metal? (7/28/2009 8:26:03 AM)

omg how could I leave out Manowar and Iron Maiden?  what can I say, I was tired...

also.. Add  Doro Pesch

ElectraGlide -> RE: Heavy Metal? (7/28/2009 8:47:54 AM)

Great picks everyone, I saw the big 3 mentioned, Sabbath, Priest and Maiden. A few not on the list here worth listening to are Metal Church, Blue Oyster Cult and Alice Cooper.
