Like so much, the answer is in the individual. Some people I find domineering to the point of distaste are seen by others as the ideal dominant. It's not a case of them or me being right or wrong, but what one is looking for and what one's standards are.

I'm presuming you're meaning domineering and being dominant as being opposites..so taking those opposites....

i know this lady who is totally overbearing - no one can stand to be around her. She is a passive aggressive, always trying to control everyone and everything by subtle manipulations that everyone can see through but her. Maybe that could fit into your definaition of domineering.

Another example could be someone who is domineering with no regard to the welfare of the person or people they are imposing their will on.


So..going to the other end, if someone was consciously dominant, basically what that would mean to me is that they were a good people manager naturally taking up a position of being in charge. All people benefit.

Just played with this...literally...both words are the same to me....for me to go to opposites i would use the words Dominant and Abuser.
