I as a Co-founder of the Tulsa TNG often get a lot of questions from people in the community about what exactly, TNG: The Next Generation is. The quick definition of TNG is this. TNG: The Next Generation is a group for kinksters between the ages of 18-35, that we may come together to learn and play within a group of our peers. TNG is here, to fill the age gap that is so evident in a lot of communities around the country, and yes even globally. A large annount of the younger community has been and sometimes continues to be ostracized by the larger community. How many of you in the age range have heard something like this? "How can you be a Dom/sub at 22 years old?" "You are to young for this, come back when you grow up" "How do you know your doing that safely? This is too edgy for you, come back in a few years" ect,ect ad nausum. This is why the TNG was created. Inclusion through exclusion. FAQ about TNG. Why the Age rule? Simple, for the fact a lot of people interested in learning about the BDSM community between the ages of 18-21 are excluded from the majority of BDSM groups and munches. Another reason being, imagine a fresh young 18 year old girl goes to the biggest kinkster munch in your state and she sees and overhwleming ammount of peopl, old enough to be her parents. Can you bet she will feel uncomfortable at the play party for the group? I'd put money on it. When was TNG started? in 1999, by BoyMeat, Kyri and thier partners in crime. I have been around and about since my late teens and I have done the under 35 munch things, I mean it may just be exclusive to the ones I went to but they were bloody appalling. One thing I adore about BDSM is the ability to mingle with people three times my age and have something to talk about. This isn't to diminish the fact that some people do feel uncomfortable but I have never ever felt excluded or uncomfortable in 'real' life due to my age, I actually think the segregation can be counter productive and add credence to any bigoted attitudes that there may be.

So if thats your opinion Lilly, Then what are your opinions about only men or only women groups? Or only gay and only straight groups?

[:)] Is it possible then you agree with the idea for the need of TNG groups? , for the fact a lot of people feel excluded from other groups, because the age gap ect? Reason being, if one feels comfortable in a group around their peers, and know they have a safe place, they then have a base to expand their peer group, by involving themselves around others in the larger bdsm community, by meeting other TNGers and their group of friends and partners...thus meeting more people..ect... Not that I want to change your opinion or anything, I just like picking peoples brains.

Oh you know if it works for people then thats great, I don't like the idea of segregation but thats just me and I have no right to tell other people what they should or shouldn't feel. I imagine that it is a common feeling, I was just kinda disagreeing with your OP that it was expected that people feel that way you know? Mind I do think that it is probably different in the UK because everything is so little.

I like the idea of TNG groups personally. As you stated in the OP it is probably overwhelming to an 18 year old sub walking into a room full of 40+ year olds. I think a lot of social groups exist so that people find peers and even partners and most people prefer people in their age range for that. I also think there is a lot to be said for learning certain things (how to handle rope or safe medical play) from people that have tons of experience so I would recommend that all age groups attend larger seminars and such. I don't think age equals experience at all but I find the lager gatherings tend to locatate experts in various things. The only time I get wiggly over segreagated groups is when it comes with an attitude of "us vs. them."

I'm sure there are places where that exists but I've seen plenty of places where all (over 18 or 21 depending on local laws) are welcome. I, for one, don't have any issues based on age. One of the best whip makers I have met was 24, I wish I had the dexterity to braid like that.

I have no problem with U35 munches personally. Or exclusion. In fact, I quite like the idea of elitism making a comeback. Lots of niche munches. The more the better. I have a very different issue with TNG. I know you guys are a) under 35 and b) want munches for that age range and... um, can you help me out here? Because this doesn't quite seem enough of a basis for an exciting new youth uprising. And, as a member of generation X who's just moved out of the U35 age range, it's our turn to be swept into the dustbin of history. I was kinda looking forward to it. It means we can all get back to eating snack foods and watching daytime tv. But I'm in my castle, waiting for the barbarians to storm the gates. And you all seem to be milling around outside looking a bit lost. Seriously, we're ready to become obsolete dinosaurs. But I suspect trying to kill us off through anticipation is going to take a bit too long. But wait! From the linked speech! Maybe I was too hasty. We’re rebels too! We’re sexual outlaws, just like you! And we will create our own traditions, just like you. Oh, you pesky kids! You have no resp... Um, guys? Where are you? I have pie if it helps. That was written in 2007. Now, I don't know if you know this, but my generation were actually pretty famous for being apathetic slackers. We were the very pinnacle of underachievement. And you aren't allowed to be that to. At least not for a few generations. It doesn't count as rebellion if you're the same as the directly previous one. So maybe you should, y'know, actually do some of this stuff. Because at the moment we've been left hanging. And those Scooby Doo videos won't watch themselves.

The one question I have is.. how do you gracefully inform the 35 yr old turned 36 that he is no longer elegible for the group? How much gate crashing is eperienced and how do you handle it? If a member who everybody just loves becomes age inelegible.. do you bend the rules and let him/her stay?

Apocalyso I know plenty of old fogies, I mean people your age who weren't rebels, youth doesn't mean that you have to be an activist, to be honest at the ripe old age of 23 I am already pretty jaded with the belief that some people will be twats no matter how many picket lines and banners I make. I know that you are jealous that on your way to the picket line you have to stop off to collect your bus pass while we would all have an extra hour standing in the cold, I must remind you though that Jeremy Kyle is on and that is way more important :P

Back in the day...:) I went through this years ago and it really depends on the person your asking to leave. If they are kool with it just a nudge and a hey we have that 35 thing rule. If they don't take it well there is no "polite" way. And as far as gate crashing if you don't want the individual there have a confontation. Nice thing about this lifestyle is that communication is of paramount importance. So by all means communicate to your gate crasher. Hope this Helps.
