I am about to cook a box for dinner...what should I add to it to make it healthy or bad.......

Aileen1968 -> RE: Mac and Cheese.... (7/29/2009 7:46:20 PM)

lettuce

playfulotter -> RE: Mac and Cheese.... (7/29/2009 7:47:11 PM)

ThatDamnedPanda -> RE: Mac and Cheese.... (7/29/2009 7:48:17 PM)

Butter, and lots of pepper. If you're gonna pig out, might as well make it as tasty as possible!

Yum.. panda..i do have some Bruce Aidells mango chicken sausages..not sure how much they are distributed across the country but i am going to saute one or two and put in some shallots...that is my total plan now.

Musicmystery -> RE: Mac and Cheese.... (7/29/2009 7:59:50 PM)

Option 1: broccoli and oregano

Option 2: apples and walnuts

Option 3: a bag of mixed veggies

Oh, and cut some extra cheddar to add too.

Huh, I thought this would have been mentioned but I don't see it....

An old family favourite is to add cubed ham (or that canned ham you can flake), fresh or frozen peas and then prepared mustard, we preferred either a brown mustard like Gulden's or a honey mustard. Heat and eat.... Yummmmmmmmmm!!!!

Keep scones and apples in the house, and granola in the car.

beargonewild -> RE: Mac and Cheese.... (7/30/2009 7:24:02 AM)

kernal corn?
can of diced tomatoes?

CatdeMedici -> RE: Mac and Cheese.... (7/30/2009 7:24:49 AM)

Considering that it is all preservatives, throw the box out and make it from scratch.

GreedyTop -> RE: Mac and Cheese.... (7/30/2009 7:26:15 AM)

chili

tuna

hamburger

peas

diced onion

garlic

any combination of the above.

begmeformore -> RE: Mac and Cheese.... (7/30/2009 7:27:00 AM)

daintydimples -> RE: Mac and Cheese.... (7/30/2009 7:52:25 AM)

Toss out the box and make it from scratch?

Totally decadent...I like to add those French's onions on the top for the last 10 minutes of baking.

GreedyTop -> RE: Mac and Cheese.... (7/30/2009 8:00:43 AM)

green beans

intenze -> RE: Mac and Cheese.... (7/30/2009 8:41:34 AM)

green peppers, red peppers, and a serrano chopped fine.  so yummy and vitamin c too

GreedyTop -> RE: Mac and Cheese.... (7/30/2009 8:47:26 AM)

smoked sausage.  dice it and brown it.  toss into the mac and cheese (I prefer Italian sausage, actually)

SteelofUtah -> RE: Mac and Cheese.... (7/30/2009 9:08:22 AM)

Tuna -
Peas -
Asperagus -
1/4 cup SHARP Cheddar -
1/4 cup Alfredo Sauce -
Two Strips Bacon Fried and Chorsley Chopped -
Artechoke (Optional but Finely Sliced into 1/8 strips Remove the Choke) -
After all is Mixed together Put all in a Baking Pan Cover with Parmsean and Bake at 350 degrees on the High Rack until Cheese is SLIGHTLY browned and remove IMMEDIATLY!

99 Cent Box of Mac-N-Cheese and Now you have a VERY Tasty Meal.

I make this Often.

Good in a Pinch I even use Canned Artechoke cause it stores better and I like it just as much.
