Sadly a lot of consignment stores won't take such dresses simply because many women want to get rid of them after the first wearing. Those that do usually price them quite cheaply.

I recall a submissive about a year back that wanted to do a "princess kidnap/rape" and had bought a prom dress for the scene. It had a lot of pearls on it and part of the scene envolved my cutting it off.

We were finding pearls in the dungeon for months after that

Have you considered putting it on Ebay?

Rather than looking on the internet, perhaps this would be a good time to grab the Yellow Pages, and make a few phone calls?

There are several consignment clothing shops in Sacramento. For instance,

Fluffy's
4755 Manzanita Avenue, Sacramento, CA 95814

French Cuff Consignment
1001 Jefferson Blvd Ste 600, West Sacramento, CA

Renaissance Fine Consignment
2362 Fair Oaks Blvd, Sacramento

We aren't supposed to post phone numbers so you will have to look them up. But I think you will find several more.

I refuse to use ebay, they've jacked up theirfinal value fee's and they have to many other fee's to make worth while and if you have small items like I normally do they'd force you to price gouge your customers. like for instance I wanted to sell plaster of paris jewlery I made and they'd be worth no more than 2 something each or maybe 5 dollars, and with all their fee's to list I'd have to charge at least 15 to 20 dollars to make any money.

Also the thing with clothing is I find most people would want to see it inspect it try it on see if they like it if it fits. which you can't do buying it online. plus shipping would be a bitch. The box for the slip alone which is huge would prolly be 30 dollars to ship. I'm not kidding the box the slip in is like half my height I am 5'4 and the box comes to my waist. so it's aprox 29 inches wide and 39 inches tall.

JW that is a shame because so often women spend thoughsands of dollars on them. Or well the parents do since most of us are still miners when we attend our proms lol well I wasn't but I started in the middle of the school year anyway.

The dress was 220 the coreset bra was 48 the slip was like 58 all in all it came out to like three hundred and twenty dollars, and I thought about asking for 200 for it. which is you consider the basic at the mall was 400 well we were ahead of thegame. It's not extreamly fancy or dolled up or anything it's a gorgious peach satin with a bow in the back and so not very fancy smanshy at all. It'd be perfect for any formal wear. only I don't go to formals a lot lol wish I did though cause it was / is a gorgious dress.

Looking back on how much it all cost I wish I would of just rented but I am a sentimental fool and I thought having the dress to keep and remember would be better than renting. Plus being plus size I couldn't find dresses in normal places I had to go to a wedding botique

I think that's probably a bit unrealistic an asking price. The dress is also a couple years out of style at this point, something a lot of teenage girls care about.

Consignment shops typically take half of whatever they sell the dress for, and will only set it at a price that they think they will sell it for. In general, they won't price it for more than 1/2 of the original cost, if it's "in style" still. If it's not, or it's an awkward size or a not-so-popular color, then they price it much less than 1/2 price. Keep in mind - people who shop consignment stores are looking for deep bargains.

My mother spent $600 on her mother-of-the-bride outfit for my sister's wedding; she passed it on to me to sell at a consignment shop that I worked at for her about a month after the wedding. The shop sold it for $200; I got $100 when it was all said and done.

MsSonnetMArwood my prom was only 3 or so years ago. ok so yes a few years out dated. lol And I am 23 now. 200 dollars isn't a lot if you consider all the money that went into getting it. and if you consider that the slip would be half that alone in a normal store. true that was a personal choice to spend so much on.

The only reason I want money for it at all is because I amg oing on two vacations back to back and I Want some spending cash and I am also trying to make money so I can get some more materials and things I want so I may make more baby blankets and bibs.
