I would love to go to the gym's pool every day if I wasn't so lazy but I worry about pool water damaging my hair, Is that a valid concern? I do think the pool guy said the gyms pool  was salt water or salieen or something an that is better than chlorien, but just how much better.

Also if you swim with your eye glasses on will it damage the glasses in anyway? I can't see shit with out my glasses, I am so near sited, that I wear them even when swimming, cause other wise I couldn't see.

Gym and public pools are loaded with chlorine and other chemicals because of all the germs/infections/skin conditions people can have. One way to cleanse your hair of harsh chemicals is to rinse your hair in an apple cider vinegar solution. it's simply half ACV and half water. you use it after your normal shampoo and before your normal conditioner. it's cheap and very easy. i keep a bottle of the solution in my shower and use it once a week. hope this helps! :)

A lot of pools have switched to ozone purification, so they cut down on the hazardous materials on site.

Wet your hair in the shower before getting in.
Rinse your hair thoroughly right after getting out.
Condition daily.
Wash hair at least 3 days a week right after getting out of pool.

I'm a blonde who colors her hair and swim 5 days a week an hour before work every morning that has followed this to avoid dry damage as well as that greencast.

Ms Lemon

If you're going every day,  say you wash your hair after swimming on monday, does that mean wash it again on wednesday? Rinsing off makes sense I never rinse off I just get out and air dry.

What about inbetween hair washes, I don't want to be washing my hair everyday, if I swam everyday.

You need to rinse your hair with plain water first so that it absorbs that water and not the treated water. You can also put a little conditioner on it ahead of time. A bathing cap might also limit how much treated water gets into your hair.

And yes, rinse it out afterwards.

I always swim with my glasses on, never had a problem.

I color my hair red, which is the hardest color to keep, and I wash and condition my hair every day, otherwise it feels dirty to me.  As mentioned, wet your hair thoroughly before getting in the pool, I've also heard slathering it with conditioner will help, but again, you're in a public pool, so that may not be a good idea....and then rinse it when you get out of the pool using the vinegar every time....vinegar is great for soft hair, an no, you won't smell like a pickle...I use it full strength, too, and never had it do any damage.  Try putting it up in a bun, that might help cut down on the exposure of the ends to the water.  There are also several different types of swimmer's shampoo on the market.

And yes, the chlorine will eventually ruin your glasses.....metal doesn't like the stuff, and the hinges are still metal on most glasses.  You could try some sort of swimmer's mask or goggles over them, that would be the only idea I have, short of getting a pair of prescription swim goggles.....yes, they make them.  But that would depend on how seriously you plan on swimming, as they probably aren't cheap or covered by your insurance.

I grew up in the water of a pool and Lake Ontario, and my hair was fine.  Just take care of it like you normally would.

after being in chlorinated pools, the sun and beach I usually do a deep conditioning oil treatment on my hair for a couple weeks.

I find it always helps with my hair but every hair type is different. You may want to speak to your hairstylist who may able to give you better tips.

Can't help ya with the glasses bit. I've never worn them or contacts.

I put in diluted conditioner, or coconut oil, making sure that it is saturated and then braid it. Rinse very well afterwards.

I always wear my glasses in the pool, if I need to keep track of the short guys. Never had any problems.

I was also thinking perhaps a gentle baby shampoo like johnosn and jonson no tears, if it's purportedly gentle enough for babies scalps it shouldn't dry out adult hair to much to use just a little bit of it daily.
