If you mean kindred the embraced, then it was back on tv for a while,  Daddy says people called it kindred the embarrased because so many people t fans of the original thought the version out of tv sucked.

An author I haven't seen pop up yet is Poppy Z. Brite. One of her books dealt with vampires but for the life of me I can't remember the name of it. I think it was lost souls or something like that. If you have never read her she is a fantastic author.

It was Lost Souls, though it had to do directly with homosexual characters, I doubt her book will be made into a series.

I don't have enough estrogen for romantic novels. But then again I did read the twilight series. Never seen a more ready made martyr.

loved Buffy...never missed it.  Angel was good for awhile, then got a little too loose with the story.  I'm liking True Blood, but I don't mind if I miss one and catch it later.

I have always liked the book 'Salem's Lot".  I did enjoy all the Anne Rice books, but she tends to be a little repetitive (I much preferred the Mayfair Witches books).  As far as on film, "Bram Stoker's Dracula" is my favorite.  just gorgeous to look at.

Your so right there.  The Vampire books are very good but the Mayfair Witches were excellent.

@ barelynangel the series you describe is Kindred.  It is occasionally played on the SciFi channel.  I very much liked that series as well as the Moonlight series.  Moonlight was critically acclaimed but not watched much but I thought it was interesting and obvious that there was another season set up.  It is interesting that we all have likes and dislikes.... someone didn't like Moonlight and liked Buffy.  I snoozed with Buffy.  I also liked Forever Knight as well. but looking back on it now can see the age of it.  It is interesting to see all of the different items.

Anne Rice does marry the Vampire Chronicles and the Mayfair Witch books ultimately.  'Course, I found hermaphroditic vampires a great example of her jumping the shark but, hey, she did that on occasion.

Anyway, Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake Vampire Hunter novels ROCK!!!  I understand a lot of people objected the more adult the books got and the more bdsm they include.  This puzzles me as that's when I think something great got even better.  "Narcissus in Chains" is my favorite but the whole series is cool.  Plus, I just heard that it will be made into a TV series!  Yaaaaaay!!!

Agyar By Steven Brust

Although the word Vampire is NEVER used in the Book it is a Story about the life and times of Jack Agyar the Vampire. It is Slightly BDSM based think Kink and Control without calling is BDSM and it is that way because Steven Brust is one of us. I know because we have talked many times over playing Texas Hold'em (Which He taught me to play)

I would suggest ALL OF HIS BOOKS To Reign In Hell being my favorite and then the Khaveren Romances which he admits is a blatent rip off of The Three Musketeers.

Seriously Get the book above It is at a GREAT Price and it was a WONDERFUL Book.

The Underworld series is pretty good.  And I'm loving True Blood....well, the first season anyway...I don't have HBO, so I'll wait til the 2nd season is out on dvd and get it.  The books that it is based on are written by Charlaine Harris, she has 9 or 10 out now...the Sookie Stackhouse novels.  True Blood does veer from the story lines somewhat...Bill doesn't ever make another vampire, there is more of a comedic touch to some of the writing, and the characters are somewhat different....not the main ones, but I can tell you that it isn't Jason who gets tied up with those religious nuts, Amy wasn't the same character in the books that she was on the show, and they expanded Lafyette's role.  Tara was a different character too.  I do hope they follow the line of the book tho....Ms. Harris introduces more and more mythical and supernatural chracters in her books.  But I do like the series, it's darker, and they did do good with the scripting and stuff.

I did read Twilight, at least 4 times each book, and there's a new tween series out called the House of Night novels.....the premise behind the vampires there is the trait is genetic, and when kids hit puberty, they get "marked" and head off to a private vampire school.  As if being a teenager wasn't hard enough!  There are 5 books out in that series, they read pretty fast, I read 3 in two days....the 6th is due out in November.

I loved the Kindred......missed it when it first came out, rented the videos one weekend.....too bad someone can't pick it up and run with it....and Forever Knight was a must see for me.  Never did get into tthe Dark Shadows series, but I was young then, and was more interested in playing outside than soap operas.....and when I did watch it, it wasn't scary like the other vamp movies.  And Buffy....oh yeaaaaah!  Loved her!  Still watch her on line at hulu.....but I didn't find her til like the 4th season.  Angel was okay, but after a while, it seemed to get a little tired.  I did find it a bit odd that the original Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie was a comedy.  And did you know that Joss Whedon (SP?) also was one of the writers of Toy Story?  Polar opposites.....

What I've read so far of Anne Rice's stuff hasn't really impressed me.....I guess there's no accounting for my taste......I did muddle through the Vampire Lestat/Interview with a Vampire novel......saw the movie too, it wasn't bad.I've read a few others, but can't think of hte names off hand.

I've more or less avoided Vampire stuff, because of the popularity...(a little quirk of mine, boycotting popular things.) However, like many people, the concept has always interested me.

Loved Bram Stoker's Dracula, Gary Oldman in that movie rocks! mmm him in those red specs and long brown hair...hot damn! (and liked the book alot too.)

Tv series, would be hands down, Forever Knight. the actor who played Nick, mmmmmmm. sexy as hell. the only thing that sucked, (pun intended.) was the ending.
And while I didn't really like him, there was something appealing about La Croix

I like Kelley Armstrong's protrayal of Vampires, love her books in general.

I believe it was Kindred: the Embraced that had Julian in it. It was based upon a role playing game (Vampire: the Masquerade). I used to have the series on DVD until someone stolen it from me.

I also love BDB, Anita Blake, Forever Knight, Anne Rice's entire series...

I always liked Buffy because I had....and still have... the hots for Allyson Hannigan  ( I think I spelled it correctly but you folks get the idea)

Exactly. She's the whole reason I started watching. I didn't come into it until season 5 but then I saw them all, to include the Angel series (he was much cooler in his own show than the whiny bitch he portrayed in Buffy).

Joss Whedon is a genius.

I didnt like Twilight, dunno why

I can wager a suggestion here -- because the 'vampires' in that series were all emo-douchebags like so many teens today. They took something 'cool' like vampires and made it.....lame. I didn't think that was possible.

The Dark Shadows (Johnny Depp to star in movie version)

followed by Angel

as far as movies go: Queen of the Damned, Bram Stoker's Dracula, Underworld (and its sequels) and Interview with a Vampire.

I refuse to see any of these teen "we glow in the daylight" vamp movies/ tv series.

Blood :  the last vampire.    influanced by buffy the vampire heavily.    started as manga comics had anime releases and it's first live action release this past may.     Even has a playstation game version hehe.
story is simple japanese female half human half vampire hi-breed (something like blade)  hunts full blood vampires with her katana.
Though most people in North america havne't heard of it it's one of the best selling animes of all time.

Another interesting movie though not a series was moonchild.   Japanese movie focusing on the curse aspect of the vampire and how it is a burden and truly a curse as they lose friends and lovers and become a monster.
