This is Panda's second post today in which he worried openly that people may be listening to radio stations he disapproves of, and I doubt he has any reason to believe they were listening to the radio at all. Just a minor point, way back on the early pages of this thread, there was a (slightly warped) discussion about why Health Care Reform was being rushed through... One of the major reasons is pretty simple: the timing.

Think about it. In a few short months, we begin the campaigns for the congressional mid-terms. Once that gets going, the chances of getting any kind of major legislation though is going to be crippled, since none of the incumbants wants to do anything during their bid for re-election that could be construed as "controversial". After that, there will be Congressional recesses, and eventually a lame duck year for OBama as he appraoches his eventual re-election himself. So, if we want to save millions of lives that will otherwise die from GOP neglect, it has to be done in the first year of this administration.

Thus, the all out offensive (and I DO mean "offensive") by Republicans to scare the crap out of older Americans. But then, they are good at this sort of thing: remember when, if we didn't invade Iraq at the end of the week, the"smoking gun was going to come in the form of a mushroom cloud!"?: Or how the torture going on in Abu Ghraib was "Just the pranks of a few bad apples?"

I just cannot believe that the American people are so stupid as to listen to a party about the details of their health care, who's LAST GREAT IDEA was to dismantle social security in favor of gambling in the fucking stock market! (Can you imagine what would have happened to the elderly if we had done that, and then the GOP continued on their merry way, plowing their 747 economic policies into the WTC skyscrapers of people's social saftey net? We'd need to dig mass graves out at the city landfills just to dispose of the millions of starved to death senior citizens that "Newt Security" would have murdered.)
