I've heard and seen varying degrees to which the environment of subs is managed and monitored. In assisting them with general guidance, health, decision-making, and positive financial strategies I have found a temperature sensor available from a company (Pervasive Sensors) that attaches to a computer port. It enables you to remotely and accurately check the temperature of wherever it is installed with any internet browser and costs around $30. Especially with the rising cost of energy lately, you can monitor your sub's environment and guide them to save money, lower energy bills, etc. I'm sure they can be used in other ways; I haven't given much creative thought to alternative applications. Certainly if a sub wants or needs help in becoming more financially stable and secure, things like this as well as getting the sub to research and implement tips on their own can help a lot. There are books and websites galore on this very topic- the little things that can add up to good savings. Going along with this idea, programming thermostats can be very good to conserve energy.

While I understand the thrill of such micromanagment (but don't do it...usually), I still have to ask, "Why?" on this one. If you can't trust your sub/slave to leave the thermostat on 72 (or 68 or whatever), do you really want that person as a sub/slave? Fire

I don't think it is an issue of trust, as much as one of attentiveness. Leaving the thermostat at any single number is not, in fact, the most efficient way to maintain a comfortable environment. As LA mentioned, a programable thermostat might be a better way to go, but if micro-management is your thing, this could work. The more devious side of me thinks that having the slave drop the temp to 60 degrees could be a very very good punishment (and one which could be independently verified with this device). Figuring out ways to make LDR (and even online only relationships) feel more like real-time same-space relationships is hard, and I applaud the efforts. Taggard

NO This is an issue on trust again.. a little off beat and strange topic.. but it's still a trust issue.

LOL see I took an entirely different perspective. I thought he was talking about helping the sub become more financially aware and responsible and absolutely nothing to do with actually monitoring or micro-managing.

LOL....Tall and Dark,you are devious! Yes install the device with a webcam and for punishment instruct your sub to lower her T-stat to sixty, take off all of her clothes and begain a nice Hot chat together...LOL I'm sure the high beams would be on ; ) A more practical application would be if you were a landlord and paid all utilities of the dwelling you rented out. You would want to monitor the heating/cooling equipment to make sure it was functioning properly and the tennants weren't having a lua party in the dead of winter.

No freezing cold temperatures No insertion of plastic bottles No concussions Damn. . . I thought those were a given. . . Oh, and no cutting off limbs or body parts. Sheesh, people. I consider it an improvement to their quality of life and one's responsibility as a Master in that you give them guidance and direction. i dont see the point in what you are doing. a few years ago i picked up a multi function thermostat for the house with hmm maybe 4 or 5 time zones on it and it automatically raises and lowers the heat according to your personal schedule. i would guess you could pick up one for 25 bucks maybe and save the cost of the elctricity to run your computer on top of it.
