That's a pretty fuzzy question to answer, Zena. No matter how well you know the legal terms in a particular state, this will not guarantee that an officer or detective will not make "creative" use of a law in order to cause trouble for those engaging in BDSM (see Paddleboro). Obviously, sexual intercourse or fluid exchange within the bounds of anything that can be remotely considered either prostitution or "obscene" by the "contemporary social standards" of your community should be something to consider being careful about, no matter the venue.

Edited to add: Following the club / dungeon rules is a good place to start. When in Rome...

Since there isn't much detail in the law, you're dependent on case law. You won't find case law here - consult with a local lawyer. If you have specific concerns, you really should mention them, free legal advice is generally worth what you paid for it.

That link is 9 years old and prior to the cases resolution. A google search comes up with a lot of articles from 2000 that don't include a court ruling. So can anybody tell me how this court case turn out?

"Possession of an item of self-abuse" and "assault and battery with a spatula" didn't hold up very well, apparently. After the court suppressed considerable evidence about the illegal entry and police search, the S&M-related charges were dropped.

Some other past cases worthy of a gander on the subject:

Commonwealth v. Appleby
People v. Samuels
State v. Collier
Regina v. Emmett

Status: offline 		Is this regarding a pro-domme situation? If so, you have one more complication to deal with, and that is the money exchanged. It is quite easy to make a legal case that pro-domming is prostitution, should some decision-maker decide to make an example of your activities. To answer the question, where can you find out, exactly, what is legal and illegal-- you can ask the NCSF if they have a resource on that, and you can look up city codes and NY law codes and see if you can make heads or tails of them. Or find a kinky police officer who knows.

I would venture a guess that penetration of any kind would be a no no along with the exchange of bodily fluids. The houses themselves may need to be zoned properly along with an actual licence permitting such an activity. If you are concerned, I would check with the business office in your local area

Status: offline 		In general, few if any serve or perhaps allow alcohol. Most to my knowledge do not allow "fluid exchange", their words, not mine. In other words, no fornication. Or as Van Halen titled one album, no For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge-ing!
Nudity is fine. Pretty sure there is no smoking(of anything).
Other than and beyond all that, you would have to contact the individual club or dungeon you plan to visit and ask.

Ladyzena, after I clicked on your screen name and saw your home page being pandoras....I am presuming you know of "Paddles" in NYC... if you do, and you know of their rules,since they once shared space with Pandors Box(and still may) the rules there are pretty much standard throughout all of the clubs and or dungeons in the city.
