I wondered if there is anyone else here into running? I started about a year ago and have built quite a passion for it. I find it a good stress release.

I would like to hear from others with a passion for exercise in general or running

I exercise at the very minimum 6 times a week. I never thought I would be into exercising that much but I started doing it over 3 years ago and have added more and more ever since. Losing weight was my goal at first but I keep doing it now because I love the way I feel.

I agree, excellent stress relief. I also do long distance biking and kayaking as well. Lol...I hate running though and do anything to avoid it so I commend you on the running but could never do it myself (shudder)

I love exercising. I only go to classes 3-4 times a week but will walk the other times for minimum of 1 1/2 hr fast paced.
I love Spin Class & Body Combat (high intensity cardio kickboxing).
I used to go to Body Pump class a couple of times a week but had to give my arm a rest (tendonitis). I shouldn't be doing BC class 'cuz of the punches back & forth but I can't give it up.

That would interfere far too tremendously with my smoking and drinking schedules!

I've always hated running. The more I run the more I hate it. Unfortunatly, I'll be running for a long time. For me, running is like listening a bad song played on the radio over and over. After doing it for so long, you just kind of keep doing it. So yes, I am a runner. I'm just not a very joyful one. In eight years from now, I might decide to stop running for good. I'll retire and take up hikeing, mountain bike rides, and canoeing. Anything but running.

Wow that sounds like me. I did it to shape up at first but now it is somewhat of an addiction I think and yeah I love the way it makes me feel. I used to go 3 or 4 times a week but I reduced it to 2 as I started running further and needed time to recover.

I always hated running at school..and now I love it. Weird! Kayaking...wow..where do you do that? I bet that gives a good buzz?

Wow I have seen the women coming out of Spin class and they look half dead haha! I don't know how you do that for an hour. It is hard to give it up even when you know you need  rest or time to recover..we should know better

It is amazingly addicitive isnt it? How far do you run? I am just building up to 5 miles twice a week.

I'm not a big fan of running to be honest,  But 6 weeks ago I stopped smoking. And too make sure that I don't gain much weight in doing so I decided that I would spend 30mins every day cycling, preferably when the craving sets in.  I did exactly that and very soon the 30mins became 1hr and more. Now after six weeks I've lost 5kg, and gone from cycling rounds of less than a kilometre up to 35km last weekend. I also ride to work and back every other day (saves gas).  I even felt today when I got home from work that I just neeeeeeeded to go and ride my bicycle, even more that I needed to eat or drink after a hard days work.  I just crave to feel the burning, sweating and the wind in my face. I of course, have no cravings for tobacco anymore.   I think that I'm beginning to take the cycling thing to a level of a lifestyle... which is a good thing ;)

Wow...well done! It's funny how it turns from a chore into a must do without you really noticing isn't it? I really miss it if I don't go running and get cranky. Well done on the stoppings smoking

No running here. Not built for it. Lots of walking, time on the elliptical, hiking and riding, but noooooo running.

Throw in rollerblading, and that's pretty much my own program  in a nutshell. And i love it.

I always hated running. The most boring exercise in the world. I've got the beginnings of arthritis in one knee, and a mildly degenerative disc condition, both of which are aggravated by the impact of running, so I'm quite happy to have an excuse never to do it again.

My uncle started running 3 miles a day last month.   Last we heard he was somewhere in NJ.  [rimshot]

Kayaking is fun. I have a friend that has 2 kayaks so I let him tell me where and when we're going. It helps a lot that we joined a kayaking group in our area. They scout out the paddles and have people there to lead the rest of us. Makes it rather easy on our part, we just show up and paddle around in all of these new places whenever we can make it.

You do get a buzz. I found that I start out- then get tired, but if I ignore that and keep going the second wind comes and I can pretty much keep going without stopping. In fact, we challenged the people in a motorboat once to a race and beat them in, that was fun. So yeah, I never thought I'd try it but am glad I had the chance and I quite like it. Night paddling is the bomb The quiet, lights from the shore, murmurs of people talking from far away, a gentle breeze, the moon shining on the water...honestly it's a great experience.

Once every six months I have to run atleast two miles. Other than that, I do a few laps around the track once a month. If and when I can snap out of bed at 0400, I'll do a one to one and a half mile jog. I also do the one minuet sprints and one minuet walks.

I like running around the track once and then walking half of it followed with another run continue to repeat untill I'm too tired.

I was on a track team in school.  I ran cross country..the 440.  Can't say as though I care to run anymore.

I get serious leg pain..did in school to but I wasn't as smart back then to quit.

I do like exercise.  Spend my running time on the elliptical now at the gym.  It doesn't hurt my legs..still get the same workout.
