Yep in the article the use that  hardcore Democrat Ted Stevens as an example.....oops I meant Republican....As for Edwards....at least it was a woman he was with...lol
Tough to paint any party in particular when they are both guilty of so many things.....

Exactly. But try getting the hypocrites on this site to admit it without resorting to "Oh, but they don't make "family values" part of their platform". (Which a link to Edwards campaign speeches disproved anyway, and as if they campaign with "we don't claim to be moral, so if we slip, its not so bad")

SilverMark -> RE: Damn that Corruption in the GOP (8/6/2009 10:34:39 AM)

I have yet to see that argument made anywhere??????....

Lucylastic -> RE: Damn that Corruption in the GOP (8/6/2009 10:35:59 AM)

And if your aunt had testicles she would be your uncle,
"If", "coulda" "woulda" ," shoulda"..... I thought that was supposedly a dem /liberal meme not the mighty and moral repub thing.
Plus it happened 4 years ago...hardly  "new" level of corruption

Not "grabbing at anything". Its TODAYS news. Who cares when it happened. And the Dems kept him in his committee roles despite his obvious guilt. (And no "presumption of innocence" is not a valid reason for inaction".

philosophy -> RE: Damn that Corruption in the GOP (8/6/2009 10:57:18 AM)

.....pretty difficult to take accusations of partisanship seriously from one of the most partisan posters on these boards.

How dare side A do exactly the same sort of things as side B? Don't side A know that sort of thing is what side B does? Side B should sue them for copyright infringement. Isn't it time for a side C?

slvemike4u -> RE: Damn that Corruption in the GOP (8/6/2009 10:59:28 AM)

Let me see if I can follow the logic. If the slimeball(Edwards) had been honest ,President Obama(first African-American President, and I'm not implying that fact colors your bias) wouldn't be President....supposedly due to the possibility/probability the "slimeball" might have beaten him in the primaries.
So you are on the record expressing a preference for the "slimeball"rather than the current actual President?
Interesting slant......

popeye1250 -> RE: Damn that Corruption in the GOP (8/6/2009 11:10:38 AM)

And look at Ted Kennedy who kills a woman while driving drunk, never spends one day in jail for it, is re-elected by the retards in Massachusetts and goes on to have "waitress sandwhiches" with Sen. Dodd years later.
And this goes on in both the Dem and Repub parties and nothing is done about it.
We're simply putting the *wrong* people in public office.

???? Huh??? how would Edwards' being honest about banging this woman have affected Obama becoming President?  Do you think Edwards would have won if he had admitted to banging her, do you truely believe that? Or is it that you think if he had admitted it then the people of the US would have voted en masse for McCain in sheer revulsion?
Come off it, politicians have been screwing around on their wives as long as there have been politicians. This guy got caught and denied it, got caught out and his career is now over. What more do you want?

Uhhhh no. Did you follow the primaries? Do you understand that the vote of the less radical wing of the Democratic party was split between Clinton and Edwards in the early caucuses/primaries? Do you understand that going into Super Tuesday Obama's only claim to credibility was winning the Iowa Caucus due to the split vote?

Obv we will never no, but minus Edwards there would have been a much clearer path for HC.

servantforuse -> RE: Damn that Corruption in the GOP (8/6/2009 7:46:46 PM)

On April 7, 2009, a Federal judge overturned Ted Stevens conviction..

I see, possible but I suspect that the vast majority of Edwards' support that would have gone to Clinton early on went to her later on. Towards the end there was a rather powerful push for Hillary if I recall correctly, enough to convince her that she still had a chance. But like you said we will never know, but it is sort of fun to speculate. Do you really think things would be all that different with Hillary as POTUS?

slvemike4u -> RE: Damn that Corruption in the GOP (8/6/2009 9:44:07 PM)

Yeah Arpig,he would be bitching about her, instead of him.Other than that...the charges would be the same from the right.Same old ,same old.....

Because the prosecutors screwed up pretty big, not because Stevens was innocent of wrongdoing.

I fail to follow.  Edwards did lie, but the affair and the lying came out well after the election was over. let alone the primary IIRC.

servantforuse -> RE: Damn that Corruption in the GOP (8/7/2009 6:19:51 AM)

Hi Mme, The proscution in the Ted Stevens case did more that just screw up. They mishandled evidence and they could be charged for mis conduct in office. The US Attorney Generals office is investigating but since they are democrats nothing will come of it. Basically he was set up..

You're claiming the GWB DoJ set up Stevens but that somehow Democrats were involved? This was a federal prescution by a GWB appointed federal prosecutor. The actual investigation is looking into whether the case was intentionally botched to give Stevens an out and double jeopardy protection.
