Arguably, it is getting crowded on Earth. The ecology is suffering because of it. The gates of Heaven are too small to let more than a few in, if any in these times. So all or nearly all people that die will not have an afterlife. The responsible act is to reduce our population by birth control. To a number of say 250 million. The biggest effect will be had in the first generation. Say we allow only one in four women to have one child between the ages of 23 and 30. A simple lottery selects one in five women. The remainder is added by winners of various contests and other lotteries. If two female twins are born, only one gets the right to have one child. Thus in the second generation the female breeding population would be one quarter of the steady state breeding population. With one child per woman in succeeding generations, the female breeding population would be reduced to 1/8th in the third generation and 1/16th in the fourth generation - say one century from now. At that time all now living people would be dead and the living population reduced to about one billion people (a guesstimate). Women will be allowed to choose their mate. May the best man win. ;-)

That is the problem with democracies: at least three quarters would vote against the proposal.

Well, I would think those who believe that there is an actual "Heaven" are not the ones who go around trying to help the ecology or are worried about the whole global population problem. They are the ones who believe having the most children is the best way to get into heaven as that is what their god wants...or this is what they believe in some religions. So to me what you say doesn't make sense at all.

Reminds me of the movie TorchWood the Children of Earth. A long time ago aliens they caled the 456 contacted earth and in exchange for 12 children they gave the military the cure to this very deadly virus that would of wiped out half of earth, and then years later they came back but this time they wanted 10 percent of all of earths children, that totaled like 365 million kids or something. Why only control the female population? Why not a lottery for men and vasectomies as well?

Ever seen a man give birth? Assume that one has a population of one million fertile men and one million fertile women. Now assume that all women except one is made infertile. Total progeny: about one per year. On the other hand, when no woman is made infertile, but all men except one are made infertile, the total progeny will be about 1.01 million per year. See? Making men infertile does not reduce the number of progeny. It will limit the mate choice of the women, though, thus limiting the availability of best males. So making men infertile is contraproductive if one desires the best next generation.

Use the water supply(beer, liquor and wine manufacturers) to make every male unfertile then Vasectomise all males at birth.... anyone wanting to have children then have to pass a test proving they are financially able to care for a child, mentally and physcially ready to have those children for a full 18 years. Make up a mental and physical profile. We have enough sperm in banks now around the world to father generations of children without any inbreeding.

You aren't thinking it out. 1 in 4 have a child means there will be an entire generation of elderly without caregivers. Collapse of social security, any governmental aid, no health service, etc. Not nearly enough coffin makers or grave diggers either.

No but I've seen several men going out and not using protection only to father children by different mothers that they have no intention of caring for. Im all for the vasectemies and the sterilization of women. By doing this you can pick and choose the best breeding pairs. Of course the couple would both have to consent to the breeding and pass many tests to show that they are capable and willing to raise a child. ~Lashra

Very true Celeste I didnt think it out, a lot of it was tongue in cheek because it always comes down to the women who have to take the brunt of birth control responsibility to their detriment in many cases. I do not know that it is working great in China. As for the unpleasantness, the cause may be cultural. I trust that those will not occur to the same degree in Christian populations.
