quote:
sorry, this is a pensive rant-- I love My students, I love this life, and I hate it when its not right--when a student has to begin again. Thoughts? MH, being yourself a very passionate woman, you are going to have an emotional stake in the people that you are close to. As a mentor you are teaching and guiding and holding their wants and desires and needs in your own heart to care for and protect. You are helping them braid the rope of their lives. They become family to you, and in most cases you know more intimate details about them than their own family. It's so hard to see someone you care about get hurt. Or even worse hurt themselves. Being there to listen and help pick up the pieces, you have an opportunity to be witness to the rebirth of faith and strength and hope. You can be yourself, loving, caring and warm, and teach them that not everyone will hurt and disappoint them. IME being a mentor has been every bit as rewarding as being a mother. Watching them grow and change and blossom under my careful guidance. With the reward of course comes the heartache and frustration both when they are hurt by others as well as when they hurt themselves. Seeing them falter and letting them fall but being there to wipe away their tears and help them see the path more clearly through their tears.
