If You Like Water Rides, You'll Love THIS

Arpig -> RE: If You Like Water Rides, You'll LOVE This (8/8/2009 9:39:42 PM)

That's just crazy!![:D][:D]

winterlight -> RE: If You Like Water Rides, You'll LOVE This (8/8/2009 10:29:59 PM)

Unbelievable..but awesome...

mydestiny2043 -> RE: If You Like Water Rides, You'll LOVE This (8/8/2009 10:42:07 PM)

That was way cool, and would use it but only if I knew the person that thought it up knew what the heck he was doing so I would live to do it again[8D]

[sm=imsorry.gif]I don't know what the heck I just wrote (blonde moment)but I know what I meant LOL ..........That was to cool.

I just love the physics they used to figure out where the Pool should be.

I can Imagine if you got that wrong this ride would suck.

That was My thought, too.

sirsholly -> RE: If You Like Water Rides, You'll LOVE This (8/9/2009 6:48:54 AM)

that is awesome.
if it were my kid, i'd ground his daredevil ass for life....but still think it was awesome.

hlen5 -> RE: If You Like Water Rides, You'll LOVE This (8/9/2009 7:15:13 AM)

OH.  MY.   GOSH!!!!! How many here would take the ride????

DarkSteven -> RE: If You Like Water Rides, You'll LOVE This (8/9/2009 7:52:05 AM)

Gotta be faked.  The unreproduceability of it is too high, as well as the consequences of a mistake.

I don't think this one was a fake. If you look at the link given at the end of the video it takes you to a slightly expanded version of the video and you see them going over the necessary technical data to pull this off. I could offer a little more info if I could speak german.

igor2003 -> RE: If You Like Water Rides, You'll LOVE This (8/9/2009 8:46:33 AM)

Cool video, but I gotta go with DarkSteven on this one. Gotta be a fake. Compare this to a snow ski jump. In my opinion (and no i'm not a physicist...just using common sense) this doesn't have enough downhill, too much valley between the down hill and the jump and pretty much a level trajectory to the pool to land it. Also there is the problem of lubrication. It did look like it could have been recently raining in the video, but they only throw two buckets of water on the downhill and nothing on thr ramp? I"d have to see it in person or at least have better (and more) camera angles before I"ll become a believer.

Steve...you are sounding like a young old fogy. When you were their age did you think of the consequences of a mistake?

SteelofUtah -> RE: If You Like Water Rides, You'll LOVE This (8/9/2009 9:11:13 AM)

No it is not fake. It is Math. There are LOTS of shows that show the constant concept of math and physics.

Yes the mans weight and the angle of the ramp and then the windless day and that particular man will hit the same spot every single time.

If you don't believe me that is okay, but it was one solid shot and there was no digital imaging done to it. It would be harder to fake realistically then it would be to actually pull it off.

By all of your theroys Nitro Circus is Fake too as the Often use math to determine the Furthest they can get on a jump, and the physics involved on where they would land. Mythbusters do the same thing.

Seriously I love the notion that if you can't figure it out it MUST be fake.

then again there is always the possibility that the boob did it a few times until someone finally put a pool in his landing zone so the damn fool didn't kill himself.

No more unreproducible than those stunt car drivers that reproducibly jump over 43 school buses and then land safely. For that matter, Hollywood stuntmen have plenty of experience pulling this kind of thing off. There are variables, of course: wind and dirt come to mind.

I do wonder about the lubrication, too. But we don't know what material it was, and whether it even needed lubrication. The buckets of water may just have been some kind of "good luck" ritual for all we know.

Bottom line, seems like something to send to Mythbusters to let them figure it out!

Same here, LadyP.  That was an amazing video, though. [:D]

VanIsleKnight -> RE: If You Like Water Rides, You'll LOVE This (8/9/2009 2:10:54 PM)

Personally I love the idea of waterslides that have a bit of a jump at the end of them that lands you in a pool.  Of course the pool itself would have to be 8-10 feet deep and start 2 feet from behind the end of the waterslide for me to feel safe enough to go on it. >.>

windchymes -> RE: If You Like Water Rides, You'll LOVE This (8/9/2009 3:14:50 PM)

I can totally see a physics class project here......

I mean, look what Evel Knievel did all those years.

Sorry to burst some bubbles here all, but looks like Steven and igor were right...

Please understand. This is a hoax. It didn't happen. Ultimately, it's an ad for Microsoft Germany. Still, it is awfully clever. Heck, some commentators out there on the Net are suggesting it could be one of the greatest fakes in the history of the World Wide Web.
