Well - shoot!    Shame on me  - of course all doms aren't intelligent  - but the ones i like to hang with are.
That statement was just me extrapelating my thoughts ( that all doms are as smart as my Sir) to include all domdom. Thats what happens when i generalise. *hangs head and beats self with a wet noodle*

However, i do stand by the statement that doms think more about their subs than vanillas think about their significant others.   And i acknowledge that there are always exceptions to the rule  -   but of course, they aren't real and twue doms.  just wantabees!

I know the OP meant his post to be a joke, but actually I think there is some truth to it. Not that all dominants are intelligent, I've certainly come across some morons, but the dominant being able to think with both heads, as it were.

As a wonderful dominant once told me: "My cock can't talk, think, act, I talk, think act for it. )

I think that to be an excellent Dom/Domme, you -have- to be intelligent, any thoughtless person can whip someone's back and shout "say my name bitch!" but it takes someone special and of very careful, considerate thought to make one's back arch, draw a gasp from a sub's lips, curl their fingers and tones and bring them to the brink and back before sending them over the edge (if they were proper pets)

Please excuse the romance novel cliche expressions. ^_^;

Perhaps the difference is that Dom men make some attempt to be in control of their cocks ... whereas (coming from all the chastity threads on the Mistress board), sub men are totally controlled by theirs until the right Woman comes along to take control of it!

This makes me wonder... what if a sub or dom man was physically incapable of getting aroused?  Not just "this never happened to me before" but for whatever reason, there's just no way that's going to get up.  Just how much of an effect would that have?

Well I don't know what being a proper pet has to do with that, but I kept a lover for 3 yrs who was fabulous in the sack, built very well and knew how to use his body and mine.
But EEEK.. he was dumb as a brick.
Skilled in the sack does not equal intelligence

No kidding... where do these idiotic notions come from?!!  Oh yeah... from those who need to stroke themselves because they don't have a subbie-wubbie to do it for them.

Personally, I think far too much credit for intelligence is given to dominants. I'm not saying that many are intelligent beings, just that they aren't more intelligent than any other man. Too often, dominants are presented as the "all knowing, all powerful" with the answers to all of life's problems just waiting to bestow their wisdom on the poor unintelligent, unorganized, unable to make cognizant decision submissives.

Anyone with the desire to learn can be taught how to properly use a whip or paddle, taught how to tie knots safely and properly. It's the connection that has developed between the people involved that makes it work. It doesn't make dominant men "better" or more "intelligent." It is the fact that within this lifestyle, the relationships that work are between people who have taken a lot more time getting to know each other and developing the trust that in vanilla relationships tends to come over time as the relationship develops. Within the lifestyle, there are those aspects where smart people do not move forward until that trust has developed.

As for those who think that vanilla men don't think about their partners nearly as much....I'm sorry that you dated such crappy vanilla guys, but there are more than just a few who DO think about their partners, apparently you just didn't meet them.

We've all heard the joke about how men have two brains, one in their head and one in their dick, and there's only enough blood flow for one or the other...

I was talking with a lovely sub today about D/s.and it hit me that Dom men are Dom because they ARE thinking with both brains!  We're thinking with our dicks as well as our heads.

(EEO addition - Dommes think with their pussies as well as heads.)

Comments?

Edited to add - of course, I intended this to apply to genuine Dom/mes and Masters/Mistresses.

Hmmmm, I need to study this phenomenon first hand and 'measure' the results. It's the only way to find out after all. Of course I'll be doing this all in the name of science with absolutely nothing personal to gain at all. I'm going to get the proper equipment together and book a flight out to CO tomorrow...

You know there is a body part which can be much more influential than genitalia.

It's called an asshole. And it must be said that in some cases it takes over completely.

ETA typos.

Why Doms are intelligent

<insert a subjective characteristic that instigates conflict between independent, non-comformist control freaks to squabble over in a humorous fashion>

Define intelligent:

in⋅tel⋅li⋅gent –adjective
1. having good understanding or a high mental capacity; quick to comprehend, as persons or animals: an intelligent student.
2. displaying or characterized by quickness of understanding, sound thought, or good judgment: an intelligent reply.
3. having the faculty of reasoning and understanding; possessing intelligence: intelligent beings in outer space.
4. Computers. pertaining to the ability to do data processing locally; smart: An intelligent terminal can edit input before transmission to a host computer. Compare dumb (def. 8).
5. Archaic. having understanding or knowledge (usually fol. by of).

Points 1 and 2 are subjective. Point 3 makes me wonder less where some of these people come from, while point four gives me a new appreciation of the bots that inhabit the collarme site. Definition #5 rules out vegetables, so what are we left with?

this slave doesn't believe that the label "dominant" or "submissive" only applies to those that are "good", honorable and/or intelligent.
