Last night I covered a distance of approximately 20 miles running, walking, and biking. I was on a mission to get to a farewell party and I was going.... even if I was going in the wrong direction due to bunk directions.

My legs were burning and sweat was pouring off of me.

I loved the pain that was associated with it.

Anyone else have this sort of feeling when it comes to exercise?

also....

Why should there ever be overweight masochists?

my legs feel like nuclear reactors

Thanks!

Maybe because if they do whatever exercise it is too often, it wouldn't hurt as good anymore afterwords?

Not me - I consider myself a bit of a masochist, I like hard pain play.... but as for the whole legs-like-lead-and-stitch-in-side kind of pain... no thanks, doesn't appeal!

Probably a good thing, because I'm a skinny type anyhow, can't put on weight if I try, and if I exercised more than I do already I'd probably start disappearng down cracks in the pavement. :)

exercise releases endorphins which of course make you happy so I would guess it's the endorphins people like rather then the pain in terms of exercise.
but that's just my point of view :)  some might like the stress and torture that over exercising puts on their body lol.   I would rather be whipped then run 20 miles though.   of course I would probably run 20 miles after being whipped if that's what I was told to do :P
I use to do competitive cross country running which I did enjoy but I was a lot younger then and in better shape.

I understand exactly what you mean. I get it when hitting the weights and certain cardio. Running however does nothing for me. Sit ups and crunches are a killer. There is a beautiful dominant female personal trainer in London who mixes getting fit with domination. She pushes you to your limits and further. It's a fantastic idea I think. Especially for someone who doesn't have the incentive to get going. I know I would take advantage of the opportunity.

Heh yeah. Me too... and I'm not a masochist. In fact, at last count, lots and lots of people come to like that burning ache that comes with serious physical exertion.

In answer to your second (hopefuly humorous question), as long as it's true that one donut is an hour+ on the elliptical, then weight control is more about intake than outgo.

I guess dieting can be masochistic too. ^_^

So Mr. Leadership there is a possibility you are slightly masochistic. I mean to live is to endure pain and you are still alive. If you love life then one must love pain and the other pleasures associated with it.

I think there should be more kink related gyms. START A PETITION!!!

not that biking, to my knowledge, builds up weight hahah :)

but I understand what you mean... for me going to the gym was more interesting for the efforts I had to put to lift even the simplest weight.
the pain of a day after was just a little of a pleasant annoyance to remind me I had my exercises properly °____°

What keeps me going at the gym day in and day out isn't so much the pain of physical exertion, but the strength and willpower I draw from my dominant to be there and give it my all.  Whenever I think I can't do another set of reps with the free weights or run an extra ten minutes, I simply remind myself that he would be disappointed in me for giving up before I needed to.  He provides all the incentive I need to get through a rigorous workout.

Well i was never a big exercise person, i went to the gym but i had to drag myself there.  It was always the same thing.  Now i walk daily and found a whole body exrecise i love karate.  Yes after a hard workout my muscles are a little sore. I like the soreness because it means i worked hard  not for the pain of it.  Pain is not an incentive for me  getting in shape and more fit is.  I exercise because i like it not for the pain.

I love exercise, especially  "Spin Class" "Body Combat aka Cardio Kickboxing" & "Boxing for Fitness".

The sweat & the pain are all so worth it! I also love walking when I'm not at the gym and will try & do a minimum of 1 1/2 hr and have done 3 hrs.
I just put on my iPod and power walk. Love it!

self-administered pain, even in the guise of exercise, just doesn't do it for this masochist.

there needs to be a sadist involved, or it just isn't fun.

i run all the time for the reason that it always leaves that nice burn in my leg.  i would probably bike as well if i knew how too, but i think i faceplant enough on my skateboard XD.

i don't think it's a masochistic quality though since lots of vanilla people do it to. Maybe they're just repressed, who knows.

From a purely medical standpoint, you're more likely to have a healthy set of nerves if you're vegan and a little "overweight" (whose weight, i don't know since 75% of Americans are "overweight" and 95% of people can't lose weight and keep it off.  Just sayin'), which would mean that you'd feel pain more acutly than if you were skinny.

*Slinks of with xyr masters medical text book, and pretends not to have read it.*

Nothing like feeling you're going to die before the workout ends, then pushing through and getting all those lovely endorphins.

And being in sore agony for the next 3 days as a bonus!
