I guess Barbara Bush's dog (who wrote a book according to the publisher) would be held in such high opinion by you, too then.  And for that matter any other people who wrote autobiographies...or campaigned...or did whatever else our President is or has done.  No fear though, cynics abound everywhere.  I am quite sure some who have read other autobiographies are hated for the same reason [;)]

That's your opinion.   [;)]

What does ego have to do with anything?

Is anyone under the impression that the White House and Capitol Hill are populated with those suffering from low self-esteem?

Hell, how much worse than "God wants me to be president" can it get? Anything from Obama on is a step away from eight years of megalomania.

Here's a scary fact that's beyond dispute:

quote:

Obama Says Grandmother’s Hip Replacement Raises Cost Questions

April 29 (Bloomberg) -- President Barack Obama said his grandmother’s hip-replacement surgery during the final weeks of her life made him wonder whether expensive procedures for the terminally ill reflect a “sustainable model” for health care.

The president’s grandmother, Madelyn Dunham, had a hip replaced after she was diagnosed with cancer, Obama said in an interview with the New York Times magazine that was published today. Dunham, who lived in Honolulu, died at the age of 86 on Nov. 2, 2008, two days before her grandson’s election victory. “I don’t know how much that hip replacement cost,” Obama said in the interview. “I would have paid out of pocket for that hip replacement just because she’s my grandmother.”

Obama said “you just get into some very difficult moral issues” when considering whether “to give my grandmother, or everybody else’s aging grandparents or parents, a hip replacement when they’re terminally ill.

“That’s where I think you just get into some very difficult moral issues,” he said in the April 14 interview. “The chronically ill and those toward the end of their lives are accounting for potentially 80 percent of the total health- care bill out here.”

Where's the scary fact? Do you find the fact that Obama can acknowledge that some topics are morally murky scary?

Sanity -> RE: Scary facts about health care reform bill (8/12/2009 10:39:36 AM)

What's scary (besides having to spell something so obvious out)  is that Mr. Megalomaniac was claiming he'd found the ticket to saving 80% of the present health care budget that he thinks he can use to fund the changes that he'd like to see happen.

Else, what was his point in bringing it up that way.

Lucylastic -> RE: Scary facts about health care reform bill (8/12/2009 10:49:22 AM)

Saying
"The chronically ill and those toward the end of their lives are accounting for potentially 80 percent of the total health- care bill out here.”
is hardly the same as saying that he can save 80 % of the cost by denying them or sending them in front of death panels, thats a hell of a stretch and we already agreed that Bush is the meglomaniac not Obama, hes just what was the word? egotistical
Half the dominants on this board are egotistical, suddenly its a crime against america?
Im starting to get worried about you

He brought it up, as he quite clearly states, to get people thinking about it.

A fundamental fact of the health care issue in this country is that too many people who are terminally ill continue to be treated agressively as if they can be saved right up to the point where their body simply fails beyond the ability of doctors to revive. Having seen both deaths from terminal illness in hospitals and in hospices I can say quite confidently that the vast majority of people have no desire to extend their lives by a few days or weeks of suffering. We as a nation have to get much better about finding the balance where all that can be done is done but letting a person die comfortably and with what dignity they can.

There is nothing scary about that except that some people would try to score political points by fear mongering on the issue.

Something else that's scary - the Democrats claim to be enraged about Republican astroturf, right?

Yet in his town hall discussion just the other day Obama had the nerve to call on a little plastic fern that one of his staffers had placed there.

There isn't a place so low that Obama won't go there.

It's just as well. It's where the fight seems to be.

DomKen -> RE: Scary facts about health care reform bill (8/12/2009 12:45:05 PM)

Shall I start posting the video links to all the GOP operatives claiming to not be affiliated with the party at these town halls?

One just for starters:

Seems its only a depth that should not be sunk to when one side does it.

Musicmystery -> RE: Scary facts about health care reform bill (8/12/2009 12:59:22 PM)

Among the things the radical right doesn't like about Obama, just as during the campaign, is that he calls them on their shit.

I agree it's despicable. Its also never going to change. It's where the battle must be fought, unfortunately, at least in part.

mnottertail -> RE: Scary facts about health care reform bill (8/12/2009 1:06:16 PM)

SO-----

Did anyone ever come up with at least ONE SCARY FACT?  Or are we just all weepy eyed and shivering because of the anal probes or what here?

Ron!!!! Don't you get it!!!???

They intend to take care of people's health needs!!! Shit, soon people will openly engage in preventative maintenance, even the damn poor ones! What the hell are the overcrowded emergency rooms supposed to do now? Just wait around for emergencies???

Pretty soon, instead of spending more on health care than any other nation and yet being the only industrial nation that doesn't address it, we'll start saving money. THEN what???? How the hell are we going to choke the shit out of Social Security and Medicaid/Medicare if the costs of these programs starts coming under control????

America as we know it will be over!!!! And people will like Obama and the Dems and vote for them!!!

It's a catastrophe! We'll be forced to enter the civilized world! Then what????

It's a slippery slope to hell, my friend, and entirely against the will of God.

LaTigresse -> RE: Scary facts about health care reform bill (8/12/2009 1:16:01 PM)

You GUYS!!! No far making me laugh this hard![:D]

mnottertail -> RE: Scary facts about health care reform bill (8/12/2009 1:16:51 PM)

Couldn't we then lower taxes to jump start the economy, 'cause I know that an extra $23 bucks a week in my pocket, (once I get some kinda job) is what is really needed, it's gonna be fuckin' explosive, what with the surplus that we are spending away even as we speak from the great tax revenues that we cage even now.

Lucylastic -> RE: Scary facts about health care reform bill (8/12/2009 1:30:44 PM)

LMAO too funny, thankyou, I needed that, lol

Oh, it's far, far worse than that, my friend!

We expected the socialist bastard to go for single payer, since that's more efficient and cost effective--then we could go after him for "government takeover of health care." Instead, the crafty evil went for the practical approach! Just like a politician. Evil demons!

So now....get this....people actually get to keep their current insurance and their current doctor if they want. That fascist dictator is cramming freedom of choice down the throats of the American people! He must be stopped!

Are you going to sit here and tell me, that all these people who currently have health care, and are happy with it can keep it?  What kinda fucking socialized medicine is that?   Next you are going to tell me that he ain't going to sell us out to Kenya?.................That moderate bastard!!!!!

No, that's not inciteful enough..........

That mediocre centrist choice loving commie left wing bastard!!!!

OH FUCK!!!!!!  Say it ain't so; Joe!!!!!

What's funny to me is that you call Obama "Mr. Megalomaniac." So what do you call the President who started a unilateral WAR to appease his 'daddy?'
