One of the growing things that I've noticed over the last few years, is how some politicians utilize fear to motivate people for some of the most vile actions imaginable... and how they seem to be using the idea of possible future crime to make it a priority to act: Hussein might drop an A-bomb... (if he had one) on us, so we need to invade his country, even though we KNEW that he neither had the bomb, nor did he have anything to do with 9-11... We need to have torture in our toolkit, because, you know, there might be a case of where there is a bomb in one of our cities, and we'll need to get the information out of a terrorist immediately. (Nevermind that the info you get this way is often false. That the terrorist would only have to hold out until the HYPOTHETICAL bomb went off...) We need to kill the health care reform bill because there's a chance that maybe it could be re-written to include "death panels"... Nevermind that if we DON'T get some kind of health care reform, we're going to be paying an extra $500 BILLION dollars within the nest decade... Gosh, I never realized that so many republicans were fans of Phillip K. Dick, and/or Orwell...
