Questions about sub drop - 2/22/2006 7:55:03 PM

Okay... I know that this post should probably be under 'ask a...' but I am seeking information from all,,, not just one type.

Yesterday my Dragon and I had a wonderful afternoon. After my punishment (which I did need), we made mad passionate love. Later He did something that we have not done before... We have discussed needle play but have not done it. Last night we did. He pierced my left nipple. The rush was the most intense that I have ever felt. He held me until the wave passed and I could function again. When we got home, he had me eat and we discussed the feelings that I was experiencing. When we went to bed he removed the needle and the rush came back, almost as much as when the needle went in. Again, he held me until the wave passed. Instead of making love again, we just cuddled and I drifted into a blissful sleep.

The problem... Today.... I am off center today. Not really depressed, but not really okay. I have discussed this with my Master and he talked me through some of the feelings that I was having. The question is... is it normal for a sub drop to last this long? I am still not feeling right.

Thank you for all of your input.

I have heard it can last a few days sometimes.

Yes it's normal.

Sometimes people can actually push drop away until later if they need to function. Then they get hit later (usually harder than if they had dealt with it immediately).

Keep yourself rested, fed, secure. And please do a search for it, there really are a lot of great topics on subdrop and coping methods. No one dies from subdrop, even as sucky as it can be sometimes.

Sub Drop isn't something that can be predicted. And it doesn't matter how long you've been doing WIIWD. It's all about the chemical reaction going on with your endorphins as a result of play.

Needles and piercings in particular can effect you dramatically because of the amount of neurochemicals coarsing through your veins.

You aren't crazy, there's nothing wrong with you, and you should stablize back to normal in a day or 2. I find that crying helps to get rid of some of the excess anxiety sometimes for me.

FYI, here's a recent account of my first Needle experience Needles and Blood Sports

Best of luck, keep us posted.

Kassie

Do you know if there are any threads that discuss the coping methods??

Thank you

Next time, eat a piece of chocolate right after the needle play. Dark chocolate seems to work best, but eat which ever you can. ::as long as you're not allergic to chocolate:: See if that helps.

I hate dropping subs… more than 3 or 4 stories, anyway.

The relationships tend to be flat after that.

Did that give you a lift?

I have known a few Doms that I would have liked to drop on their heads. Thankfully, my Dragon is not one of them.

sounds like a case of mild shock. normal when you breach a body. drink fluids and just know that you gave your body a lot more to deal with than external stimuli. (my system acts completely differently with external vs. invasive stimuli. and piercing is a foreigh body...)

your results may vary...

1st girl

I've had a rush so high it makes my head hurt.. during play... and after play.. a migrain so bad it makes my ears bleed. (Freaked a few Doms out before with this.. trying not to laugh when being rushed to ER and me telling them they'll find nothing wrong.. lol)

Everyones sub drops differ hun. Knowing that your Master cares enough to hold .. talk to you... and try to help you through it.. the best he can.. should help some.. but sometimes.. we know it's not enough.. because it's deeper than that.

I do sometimes think it's how the drop accures.. that depends on how long it does last. But this once again.. falls differ with each different person.

But on a normal day... after a hard play... I'm so much off balanced.. I'm scared to get outta bed. In terms of feeling everything I'm going to try that day will not go right. That if I get outta bed.. i'll trip on my own two feet.... and normally do.. so then I know right from there.. i'm going to have a shitty day. So I do as little as possible... and just let my mind drift back to the night before hand and savor that more than worrying about the state of blah I feel today.... but then this is how I deal with it.... not everyone.

Hope you feel better soon... and enjoyed the needle.

Speaking as one who was hit later and hard...is still in "drop" from last Sunday. Can function at work, etc....had serious melt down last night. Drink lots of water, eat healthy, journal and communicate like mad to your Master. (Unfortunately my communication in a drop like this could use some work).

Best of luck to you, 1st Girl

Well last night was a wonderful aftercare. He has me take a nice hot shower, I put on one of his large cumfy sweatshirts and crawled in bed. Put in Pirates of the Caribean and drifted off to sleep. I am feeling a bit better this morning. Thank you all for the advice and the care.

Being cuddly and warm, and putting on a favourite movie helps me a lot, too. I just coddle myself if I'm on my own. Hot chocolate, a blanket, movies...

Oddly enough (may just be situational), I rarely suffer drop until I am alone, so aftercare is usually problematic by that point. A phone call from my partner is a big help, and second to that a phone chat wth a friend I can relive the scene with. LOL

OMG, I have been going to the ER for years because of this, and everytime they can not find anything wrong, other than a "migraine" THIS is the first time I have heard or read that anyone else has this problem. I sometimes feel like I am going to have an aneruysm (My sister died of one). How odd that of all of my searching for answers, I would find someone who has the same problem and calls it "sub drop". I suppose then, mine would be called Dom drop. Suddenly I dont feel so alone. Thank you for posting that.

i am often left alone to process my thoughts and go through my emotional journey. It can be most difficult at times. He does come in and "jumpstart me," when i get stuck, however. i can relate to "reliving the scene" with a friend. Sometimes i am in a place so deep i don't want to talk about. Has that happened to anyone? Or, i find that it is just too personal/intimate to share, so i stay inside myself for awhile.
