I suppose it does boil down to how you individually see the term owned and in the context you use it. I own many tools  yet I own them in a different way to our owning both RaRa and Storm (our dogs), and again different to owning a slave. Personally I will only use the term kept if I am financially responsible for a slave. However it is wonderful; to see the differing connotations being displayed here. It's simply that I have well defined meanings on most words I use, especially those which tend to be ambiguous as so many terms or labels in the BDSM arena are.

Actually, "kept" would depend on how it was used and the context, but I associate it with a "kept woman," which is a lady who is being supported by someone who is cheating on his wife.

Perhaps not only a "mistress" but it could also simply be a female financially supported by a wealthy bloke who doesn't want neither a wife or a live in lover. Could be for family reasons if there are children of any age and a deceased wife. I suppose such a lady who is also the bloke's social partner may be considered either his "trophy bird" or his "trophy slave" depending on a few other factors.

Oddly enough, I just used this phrase today:
"I own the part of you that loves to serve Me, you gave Me your submission a long time ago."

I DO love to own
- clearly and definitely.
I like it that there are those souls that seek such belonging.
Always the best Diva~Zya
