Something that I have noticed... I am bi-polar and take meds daily to stay level. The problem is that when I have sub drop I think that I am going lower than I usually would because of being bi-polar. I am wondering if there are other subs/slaves out here that are bi-polar and experience the same thing? How do you deal with it. Is there a support group for us? (lol)

I know that I can not discuss this with a shrink because then I would have to explain why I am experiencing the mood swings to begin with. Not something I am comfortable discussing with my current doc. He would give me the leacture about this being an unhealthy relationship... but I feel healthier and more complete then I ever have.

Just hoping that I am not alone in these feelings.

I really would suggest you out yourself to your doctor or find someone you feel comfortable doing so with. There are many kink aware and kink friendly therapists out there. I can't see that withholding such an obvious part of yourself and your development would be a good thing for your therapy.

Also to add that it can be harder on a dom who has bi-polar or some mood disorder.

Like LA said, I think it's impotant to find a doctor you can talka bout this with.

I'm bipolar as well, and I've learned through trial and error that while I do get subdrop sometimes I have to just let it happen. I don't tweak my meds because the adjustment is much worse. If I leave thins as they are, I stabalize again in a day or two.

I don't know if I go lower than other people, I can't tell.

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/mooddisordersupportdomsub/ You may find this a helpful support, it is a global group.

"This group is for people who are into D/s or S/M while dealing with mood disorders like depression, anxiety, panic attacks, stress related diseases etc.

It is more difficult to cope if you feel alone with the problem. Talking with someone going through similar issues can be of help.

This is not intended to be a medical, diagnostic or treatment resource. If you need such resources I strongly urge you to talk to your doctor.

The picture is a Phoenix, a mythical bird said to be born out of the ashes of its old life. I felt it very appropriate for those of us rising above our illness to live a full, happy, productive life.

"The phoenix symbolizes immortality, resurrection and life after death. Depictions of a phoenix have appeared in Egyptian, Greek, Hindu and Chinese art and writings for a very long time. It also later appeared in medieval Christian writings as a symbol of death and resurrection. It's flight has been said to represent the capacity to leave the world and its problems behind, flying towards the sun in clear pure skies." http://website.lineone.net/~phoenix_uprising/Phoenix%20Uprising/Mission/Legend.html"

I believe that there is someone for everyone. One that will not look at a slave/submissive with these issues as being damaged, but needing the care that they deserve.

This is a great read

You are not damaged. Don't let your illness define who you are. It's part of you, but it doesn't have to be the focus. I know a manic-depressive who is very accomplished in everything he does.

The book goes into detail and family histories of manic-depression and uni-polar depression.

i'm sure it does. odds are, i already know what it says...probably nothing new.

regardless, i will see if the library has it. no sense spending money on something i probably have heard before.
