Something else I find notable is that they're "blaming" the Republicans, when Republicans don't even have enough votes in Congress to fillibuster.

Everything Obama touches seems to add to or even double the budget deficit, and the CBO and even the White House estimates held that Obamacare was no different.

I wouldn't sit down yet. Obama can control health care through other means such as getting a bill passed that allows the government to regulate health care companies further. It wouldn't be a bad idea if you were a socialist to try and put the health care companies out of business through government interventions. And, I do believe that the democrats would be willing to do such a menacing strategy to get their agenda passed.

In fact, when you think about it. The George Bush/Obama government has already done something very similar to that to the banking industry. How you ask?

It's not that he can't do something else through other means. To me it shows very poor leadership skills, he could not even control his own party to pass the dam bill. So now that the GOP understand how easy it is to divide and conquer, I do not see him lasting more than 4 years. Hell HC must be sitting there drooling at the thought of 2012, she is out of the loop on this and can use it against O'bama next time around

I'm just hoping that all those folks, (the relations of the ones who are going to die, hooked up to a machine in some hospital, sucking their families dry finacially,) remember who graced them with the lack of counseling, and options when their loved ones got close to the end. They could have been taken home, and allowed to die surrounded by friends and family... Or maybe they wouldn't have had to die at all, since they could have gotten affordable health care via a public option.

Just one more example of why they should never be allowed back into power!

I have to say this, and it is going to be a very unpopular view, but it isn't the Republicrats who did this to us -- it is US.. the American People... who did this to ourselves. WE were divided. WE were bitching about how much it was going to cost to have good, quality health care in this country. WE weren't willing to accept even a compromise as a step up from the crap-hole we're in now... and we got exactly what we wanted... more of the same bilge we've been living with, and more money going into insurance company pockets, and more medically-induced bankruptcies, and more insurance company screeners shutting more Americans out of the health care that they need. WE allowed the greedy, the callous, and the cruel to decide for us what is "appropriate" in terms of health care for our population... Of course, our GOVERNMENT shouldn't decide those things, but the guy whose profit and speedboat and three mansions depend on paying out as little as possible -should-, right... especially for those whose best just isn't profitable enough for the insurance companies (sux to be you, dude...) Congratulations, bend over and fuck your neighbor, do-si-do. Now pray to your new god -- the almighty PROFIT MARGIN, and hope he saves your ass when you're old, sick, and can't afford your drugs.

I can't believe I'm going to say this, But it ain't the GOP's fault, they did what they could to stop it. It comes to rest on the Democrat party, they failed to pull together on this and see past all the BS. This is an issue O'bama felt very strongly about and his party could not pull together and get their dam bill on the floor, they did not need any GOP'er's vote, they only needed their own party to unite and vote YES

Read David Frum, a conservative think tank. You will never have another tax cut again. He kept telling conservatives to watch out for what they wanted. They now have it.

"We the people" do everything to ourselves. Every right we lose is our fault because we demand it. Radio and TV shows have to watch what they say because "we the people" can't be bothered to turn the channel when something offensive comes on. "We the people" demand assinine laws get passed to prevent people from doing things that annoy or offend us. "We the people" are always going to be the problem with our democracy.

Need an example? Just look at things like HOAs. Sure, they aren't technically laws, but they are prime examples of the power of "we the people" that goes unchecked. You don't like your neighbor having a rusty car on blocks? Make an HOA. But what happens when the HOA sends YOU a letter saying people don't like your very drivable truck sitting in YOUR driveway? Too late, then, ain't it? (And yes, that happened here. Apparently a $40,000 F-150 wasn't "good enough" to be parked in a driveway in a neighborhood here in Texas.)

And the rest of the world gets to see how the United States, arguably a rich country, decides that it cannot afford a universally accessible health care system for its people and how so badly it fought its democratically elected President against getting one.

Not that any of this matters one jot to those who see this as some sort of a victory.

I find it to be quite pitiful that so many of you think that the only solution to our health care system was to setup a government ran-entity. Personally, what they had in that bill was nothing more than a huge power grabber that wouldn't have controlled any inflation. One reason why that would be true was because it had no measures to control massive abuse. Anyways, you should be thankful that the people spoke and that we were herd. Instead of sitting there and pouting how you didn't get your way; maybe, we can do some real overhaul to the health care system: i.e... malpractice laws that sets a maximum on how much one can be sued, not giving health care to illegals, and making an incentive for people to take preventive medicine actions (eating healthy and exercising). Creating such measures will save us trillions in the short and long run.

I do know what is sad though. Obama will probably not do anything change the health care system for the greater good. Rather, they are going to pull a Hitler and wait for the right moment to push their agenda on their people. It's only inedible that the health care system is going to collapse if it doesn't get any change soon. In the long run, I don't look at this as a victory for anyone.

That is the problem. The suggestions I made are things that can help relieve so much pressure from our health care system. It is going to be up to the people to these kind of initiatives passed. We the people have the power to do this; we shouldn't let these corporations or political activist groups speak for us. It's up to us to speak louder than them.

But the people arguing over the proposed single-payer system are doing just that -- letting the corporations speak for them. Do you realize that the countries that have the nationalized health care provide free prescriptions for their people? Here on the news, a girl had epilepsy. Her medicine for it cost over $1,000 per month. Some middle-management insurance scrub decided it would 'save money' to use the generic form of the drug, without discussing it with the doc, without notifying the patient. She picked up her meds like usual with no clue it had been switched. The next day she had a major seizure. It seems that some generic meds don't give the full dosage into the blood stream as their brand-named counterpart.

She could have died, because some schmuck in middle-management wanted to save a buck. In Canada? Same meds - free. The DOCTOR says what the patient gets and the patient gets it. Sure, we can point to 'extreme' cases of people waiting long periods for a visit, but that happens even here. A caller to a radio show here told how a family member had to go to Central America for a procedure which cost $40,000 here, but only $12,000 there. Without it, she would have been crippled for life. She had two weeks to make the choice and could not afford it here. Her insurance company deemed it un-necessary despite the doc saying that if she didn't have it in 2 weeks, she'd never walk again.

And you think that's a better system?
