That is interesting; I enjoy these forensic peeks into the past.

Me too... in another life, I'd have liked to be a forensic psychologist, or pathologist....

Can someone explain to me about the nature of Mozart's death. Was there any speculation that he was poisoned? As I understood, he also had an nemesis who was Antonio Saliere. I am fascinated by medical history and forensics, too.

Me too.....or forensic anthropologist, like "Bones".  Love that show.

Anyway, interesting article, sounds very plausible.  Thanks for posting :)

No one knows for sure, and his body was buried in a mass pauper's grave, so it's impossible to exhume to do any studies.  There is a lot of speculation about poisoning, different ailments, murder, etc.  His rivalry with Saliere was pretty exaggerated for the movie "Amadeus", though.....but then again, I wasn't there.....:)  If you've never seen the movie, though, you should, the costumes alone are fabulous, and the movie itself is pretty captivating.

The movie/play was largely invented.

Salieri was rivals really with Beethoven. There was a mysterious stranger, whose identify we know, who commissioned a requiem he intended to pass off later as his own composition.

Mozart, though, was severely overtired, working working working, and most probably died of an illness--his health was never the greatest, including recurring rheumatic fever.

From there, the myths began....
