ORIGINAL: olena I am not much of an alarmist normally but nothing good comes from people who use religion to feel morally superior and justify their greed. Isn't moral superiority built into most religions? It certainly is in the two largest - Christianity and Islam. And both the Bible and Koran seem to offer justification for believers to do pretty much anything they want, including the murder of non-believers. Uncle Nasty Moral superiority is not built into any religion I know of. People convenient interpretation in a way that benefits them or condemns people they hate is where religion gets corrupted. Maybe one thinks it to be a fine line but to me it is not even close. That is why when people point out religion has been the cause for more death from wars and murder I think it to be absurd as it is bad, greedy and selfish people using religion as a tool and not religion it self. Take what most on here are or grew up in Christianity. The Bible may point out plenty of things one should do or not do in order to go to heaven but no where does it say we can go ahead and treat people we feel are not doing it the “right way” like lesser human beings then us and still in many places preach love, help and not judge our fellow man and not love, help and not judge just people that agree with us in how to live.
