BKSir -> RE: If I Were A Scammer (8/18/2009 7:48:38 PM)

Now, by 'unpopular kinks', what do you mean exactly?  Things like dressing up like a green antelope and singing national anthems to an audience of angry old people who don't understand english, while being whipped  with a cardboard tube?  If so, get ahold of me!  I'm looking for a good sub to do that for me, and I'm willing to sign a great big check if need be. ;)

hahahaha  Good one!

FR:

Most of us would act much more intelligent than the real scammers if we were. A good and effective English skills are of the traits we have and they don't. We are aware of the common signs of scammers and we could hide our those signs.

My point is, real life scammers aren't that successful as we would be. Because if they were intelligent and educated, they wouldn't be doing this crappy job.

They are easy to figure. They all use Yahoo, since Yahoo chat can be used from a browser, and Yahoo mail passes on your IP address. The magic words "I don't use Yahoo, "I don't chat" or "I use Skype" make them go away very immediately.

Usually so fast it makes your head spin.  And for those that take a bit longer, skype somehow doesn't work on their computers... or they are not into computers, tech all that much.

littlesarbonn -> RE: If I Were A Scammer (8/18/2009 10:03:18 PM)

I generally try not to think too much about the scamming stuff on the site because I have enough problems to deal with on a daily basis that that just becomes another one of those things. Does my information, time I joined, never mentioning my family, lead me to believe that someone is going to come along and scam me? I really don't care anymore. I've been scammed away from sites. I have tried to find work through Craigslist and all I have ever received as responses are scams and attempts to steal my personal information so people can further scam and cheat me. It's like it doesn't matter what you do, who you contact, or where you go, someone is always out there to cheat you.

So, I try to stop thinking about it and hope that somewhere down the line I'll meet someone nice (or someone who likes me and might not be very nice to me...we understand what I mean). Hopefully, the scammers will go after the people who have something worth scamming. Unless they're after my stuffed animals (WHO WILL BITE SCAMMERS), they're really not getting all that much off of me.

FR

Do you think that the young lady that contacted me the other day to say that my pictures showed that I was a "very handsome man" and she would love to be my slave, could possibly be a scammer?
I do hope not as I am sooo looking forward to her visit [sm=bust.gif]

VanityFix -> RE: If I Were A Scammer (8/18/2009 11:51:57 PM)

Malkinius -> RE: If I Were A Scammer (8/19/2009 2:37:10 AM)

Greetings all.....

Most of the scammers are using computers at internet cafes and they can't install programs like Skype. Also, most are from Nigeria and the area around there. Some of them here on CM do seem to be getting better. I think it is some of the same people who are learning what works and what doesn't. It is a bit of a game for me to spot and report them...not that it does a lot of good, but it amuses me.

Be well....

Malkinius

Also profiles with only one pic are suspect. While many real people only post one or zero, it's pretty rare to see a spammer with multiple photos.

Look for grievous errors such as the profile says one age and their text says another.

The, "Too good to be true" effect applies here also. If she's drop dead gorgeous, claims of money, super high sex drive, doesn't want a relationship, just easy free sex, and has no distance requirements be very, very cautious.

Huh. I couldn't figure out why so many wanted to talk by Yahoo. Can the same thing be done with AIM?

AAkasha -> RE: If I Were A Scammer (8/19/2009 9:05:45 AM)

Maybe all the ladies here should, for charity, open their IMs and inboxes and make a pledge to dominate any and all men online who ask for it - for a donation to Breast Cancer awareness or something - for 1 day.  Then we can all feel good about it!!   :)

Why a green antelope?  What about those who fancy red antelopes?
