Maybe Compaq got better then because when I worked in dispatch at a local power and gas company in California, main dispatch all had Compaqs that were continually going down. The running joke got to be that they should just put the guy on salary - it would be cheaper. And I had a couple of friends that had Compaqs that seemed to run a lot of problems. Companies change over time, some improve, some get worse. Though I haven't heard anything but good about the E500 line. Plus, maybe there's a difference with you being in the UK, I know some companies change things between there and here.

It's good to know there are good ones out there.

The new OS is vaunted to be everything Vistaster is not, being lighter and faster and using less memory, what Vistaster should have been, but was not, is this offer a means of apology to all those that once believed in Microshaft, are they trying to draw their custom back, or is this new OS  all it's cracked up to be ?

I discovered why my machine on Vistaster home basic is eratic, it is the chipset which is at fault, it being only capable of running Vistaster, but not at it's best. An early generation Vista designed machine, the latest I understand to be fairly trouble free, but then they have a more capable chipset.
