Someone just suggested that MOST WOMEN don't post a picture because they're embarrassed of the way they look. I'd like to hear the truth. I voted It's no one's business but it also goes with Because I have a personal life

My reason isn't among your options, and I'm sure that a sizeable percentage of us (both men and women) would choose it. So that's too bad. A flawed study will produce flawed results. I need to be careful because of my line of work.

That's included with the 'personal life' Personal ... meaning I need to keep my fun time MY fun time and not my bosses, husbands, chaplains, whatever.

I wonder why any woman would be embarrassed of the way they look? Oh, right! Maybe they have spent their entire lives with the knowledge that every square inch of their body and features is scrutinized, examined, weighed, evaluated, judged, and in most cases, found lacking. In a general sense, women are judged by their appearance, and usually held up against the impossible standard. Men are judged generally by their income and power status. Yes, this is a pretty broad brush, but it holds true in most cases. So men post their picture (even when they shouldn't) and women don't (even when they should).

I chose "Never got around to it." Pretty much the same reason that my profile is blank. I am hear for the boards and not really searching for anything. If someone requests a picture, I am happy to oblige, the same as I am for any questions that someone would have of me. Other than that. . . why bother?

For nearly 2 yrs I had my photo as my avatar. I hid my profile when I stopped seeking.

The "personal life" option is too vague. I took it to mean "I'm not looking" as in "I already have a relationship that is right for me and am not seeking any others at this time", or somesuch. I like my privacy. I like the feeling of being reasonably anonymous as I am less likely to censor my opinion. I'm not advertising myself as I'm not looking. People with pics tend to get a lot more harassing HNG mail. I would prefer to think people are talking to me because they like the person they are interacting with and it isn't involving some hidden sexual agenda. People who I occasionally chat to from the boards I might send a pic to if it seems relevant to the topic.

I have a picture up but it's an artistic photo of myself. Since I'm in a relationship I have no need to post a face picture of myself. I'm only here to waste time. Before I was in a relationship I had a normal face/body photo up along with the current one.

I'm cautious because of my line of work...the profession is no secret, but trust me, when someone comes up to me saying "Don't I know you?", that's never a good thing! And for the few minutes I did have a pic up, I got more junk e-mails from men than I wanted.......dumped the pic, now I don't get the e-mails. I want to be measured for my personality, ideas, thoughts, and my mind before people get all tied up in the physical package. I'm no Bowser, I'm no Barbie, more like Raggedy Ann...comfy, familiar and the one you turn to when you need someone to listen, help or cry with. Besides, I think half of my co-workers take me seriously when I make the jokes about chains and handcuffs! And the other half are afraid of me! Which is juuuuust how I like it! [:D]

I am male. I do not have a picture up because I am not looking and because I want to keep the mail down. (Works great: I hardly ever get mail.) Also because it is nobody's business what I look like. Seeing the responses, a fair number of females are of like mind as I am.

I had a photo up... and then someone actually used it against me (funny... she had been on this site too and her whole profile miraculously disappeared). She used my profile and pic to try to turn someone I love against me. I am also now in a line of work where I'm somewhat in the spotlight. And that person that was so awful? May she rot in the hell that she has created for herself. End of story. sunshine Machiavelli...

i took down my pics as i.. well.. found it might be a good idea to put a distance between old vanity and myself. im not seeking anyone and the western paladin is a pretty sexy avatar so i am alright with this. im fine typically putting up pics on sites like this (all tho i would not be comfortable with a pic of my dick online) but i get why alot of people dont, especially women.
