I'd say it can be but not all the time

For example if a student is failing his/her classes. Is it because the student is just not a good student, or is it because the teacher is bad. I've seen both occur. So, you could have the most wonderful dominant in the world paired with a bad sub, and nothing will make that work. Or you could have the worst dominant with the best natural sub, but it wouldn't speak for ones dominant abilities. Having said that, I doubt such one sided relationships would last. So, I'd say it would probably be a more accurate when talking of long term relationships. As most will at least try a relationship with one who isn't quite working out for awhile, but I doubt most would keep it up for years. This really applies to all relationships not just BDSM.
