Well, I can get on the phone and convince you I am a man, and I am female, so my guess is yes a guy could do the same thing. I personally won't waste my time if they can't meet for coffee.

It is possible, if you listen to Wayne Newton, Donnie Osmond and Michael Jackson early in their career's, they sound like squeeling little girls.

Hell, Wayne Newton still sounds like one and Michael did......

You don't have to have technology make ya sound like a gal, I can sound like a girl, old woman, or even an old black dude over the phone

porcelaine -> RE: Is a Microphone fool proof? (8/22/2009 6:33:17 PM)

you could alleviate the aggravation of wondering what if by limiting yourself to persons within a reasonable driving distance. affix a time frame you're comfortable speaking with on and offline and be upfront about the necessity of meeting face to face before anything develops. of course technology affords many nifty gadgets for those willing to invest in deception. but you determine who you entertain and how your time is spent. if questions loom choose a different audience.

Is there a way for a man to use a mic to talk on the computer but make his voice sound like a female?

I have had 2 "females" claim they have a mic but no cam and that they can prove they are female with a mic because I can hear their voice and know.  One lived only 2 hours away and wouldn't meet for coffee so I thought the mic thing was fake.

It's easy to tell...the male microphone has a noticeable on/off switch right in the center, near the top, sticking out somewhat, facing you.

The female microphone does not.

Andalusite -> RE: Is a Microphone fool proof? (8/22/2009 10:29:15 PM)

I don't have a webcam, and don't want to use one, but I was willing to meet for coffee or dinner or some such fairly quickly.

VanIsleKnight -> RE: Is a Microphone fool proof? (8/22/2009 11:04:38 PM)

Why on -earth- would anyone do this anyways? Why do we have this technology?  I don't get it!  *confused*

Maybe some guys just want to identify as women or something?

Plus, I'm back. ^_^ Hiyas!

All this talk of meeting for coffee, I think I have figured out what my problem is....I don't drink coffee.[:D]

I didn't know that we had that in common, Arpig.

Why would you put even ten seconds of thought into this once they said they wouldn't meet for coffee?  I don't CLAIM to be female, I AM female, and a face-to-face coffee inside of a week or so will show that.  If you don't want to meet in real time then does it really matter what their gender is?  If it's all online?

I don't get it.

I don't drink coffee, either. I am a *dedicated* tea drinker.

SirLost -> RE: Is a Microphone fool proof? (8/23/2009 11:00:14 AM)

I love coffee, but they don't make good coffee in my area. That's why I reject the meetings :P

daintydimples -> RE: Is a Microphone fool proof? (8/23/2009 12:54:15 PM)

Perhaps you should learn to enjoy tea, SirLost.

MaamJay -> RE: Is a Microphone fool proof? (8/23/2009 4:03:03 PM)

No coffee drinking here either! Pepsi Max, tea or hot chocolate for Me. But I digress ...

Am I the only one with a tiny edge of doubt about the OP? I do so hope he didn't post this to find out about the hardware/software so he can trick others ...

Maybe I'm just getting too cynical these days!

There is a great tea house in Plymouth.

Let's see...A civilized answer to the OP...hmmmmm

With technology most anything is possible. D/s as I know it requires a great deal of trust. If it's this much of a struggle, I don't see the interaction having much of a positive future. Was that nice?

And a good thing for you that you do not too. It's caused me no end of trouble. As it turns out, certain switches *cough* davan *cough* are perfectly willing to take advantage of that before-coffee-time to gang up on you. So apparently it's true..

Real doms don't drink coffee.

Now you know perfectly well that wasn't coffee you just cleaned off your keyboard. Coffee is never THAT sticky or that white! tsk tsk

Real Doms dont drink coffee, real Dommes however, do.

I sound like a guy on the phone. I know it, and I am OK with it. It really isnt a hard thing to do to use a falsetto and blame sound quality on a crappy mic, who needs technology? If you even have to consider whether or not you thought they were real, then just move on.
