pahunkboy -> are your animals acting odd today? (8/22/2009 11:09:20 AM)

- My cat has been beyond tired.  The weather is soupy- I don't feel all the great.   I got to wondering if others animals are acting odd- and what the weather is near you.   Supposedly this weather front breaks on Monday. But humidity- pollen- mold - it  is all yukky and draining on a person- and I guess at least 1 cat....

Just had round one of a series of storms that are due to roll through.  Lots of rain/thunder/lightening/wind and the air outside feels humid and charged.
My cats get antsy when its like this...pacing and lots of meowing.  They either sit by the window and watch or find a dark place to sleep.

Not a typical day here in the high desert of Southern CA, PaHunk.  I woke to rain a bit after dawn this morning.  Would you expect to hear 30% humidity described as "sticky?"

It works out.  I need to run my a/c for a day or so every summer, just to keep the motors lubricated, etc.

The animals don't seem bothered by it.

83% humidity inside with AC.tho the temp dropped to a comfy 72.    My electric bill was cheap- so I am pushing the AC.

Indian summer is a very nice time of the year around here.   A couple of weeks.

my african grey bit my goffins cockatoo, one of my green-cheek conures flew onto Sirs head and bit his ear, one of the budgies is missing her tail feathers    -  the atmospheric pressure must be rising!

It is 11 PM here and outside it too hot to open the window.

Animals often act funny before earthquakes too.

I don't know... I just find some animals odd anyway..

I mean take bats for example.. They're half blind but they only come out at night. And they hang upside down. I wonder if they know they're upside down.

'Excuse me, but do you know you're perched upside down?'
'Oh am I? Oh thanks. That explains why I've got shit halfway up my back.'

It's like dogs. Dogs are weird. It's like a dog can be asleep, it's 3am in the morning, and the next thing it's stood up with its ears pricked up. I mean you could ask 'What is it?' but the dog would probably reply 'How should I know? I was asleep..'

And have you ever noticed that your dog looks amazed when it farts? This is an animal which can detect intruders, follow trails, identify smells, but the moment a dog drops its guts it gets a look on its face as if to say 'What was that?'

'It's you you smelly bugger..'
'Well you're feeding me. What are you feeding me?'

The dog drags its ass on the floor. Have you ever seen a dog do that? No warning, the dog can be sitting there one minute, next thing you know its dragging its ass across the carpet. My friend has an Alsatian which did that often until he put down wooden flooring.

It's like big dogs. I'm not keen on them. You see them in the park. They've got bollocks much bigger than those guys who send you pictures of their cocks. They're (the dogs) are lovely when they come up to you but not when they jump up, and they have to walk to accommodate their balls.

It's like budgies. They do nothing but sit in their cages all day looking in the mirror. 'What are you looking at?' It's like they've got flattened beaks when other birds have got pointed ones. Old ladies come up to them 'Pretty boy.' and I often wonder if the budgie is looking back at them and saying 'Are you taking the piss?'

Cows are another example. Cows are dumb animals with no survival instincts whatsoever. You stand at any fence and a cow will just come up and walk towards you. Completely clueless. I mean if there was any intelligence they would learn to shit without it hitting the back of their legs. There's no survival instincts, not even any attempt at camouflage. I mean, a cow is black and white but stands in a green field. They can't even run away properly. They run like old drunks.

Animals are just ... weird.

Holy 'mokes - I'm going to kiwi's house! (but I'll leave my birds at home LOL)

I've had several 'earborn' attacks - it hurts like a (*#^#@. My birds have been acting (more or less normal). The cockatoo is 'stomping' up and down the stairs like a spoiled 7 yr old and the grey is yelling 'slow down !!'

My dog's suffering from depression. My daughter went back to college so nobody is sneaking him food from their plate, taking him on car rides and giving him the front seat while relegating her brother to the back. He doesn't have anybody inviting him into bed, sitting on the floor reading with his head on her knee. He is however, getting extra treats.

My roommate's cat suffers from separation anxiety every time dude leaves for work.. he will wander about like a ghost (which is an easy comparison to make, since he's white), whining pitifully, watching out the windows, and coming to My door to stare as if he thinks I might be hiding Gregg in the master bathroom..

Two gold posts right there. Damn that was a great belly laugh.

Yes, everyone is quiet at the moment. That includes the cats, the rats, the duck, and the baby oppossums. That's really weird.

LaTigresse -> RE: are your animals acting odd today? (8/24/2009 7:12:28 AM)

My animals had an unusual weekend and are recovering.

I left work Friday and went to get my grandsons so they could spend the weekend. They are ages 5 & 6. The 5 yo tends to be in perpetual motion except when sleeping.

The dogs react differently. The larger dog tends to try and spend most of the time in on my bed hiding. The little dog is terrified something is going to happen that she has not previously approved (and might miss a bit of dropped food) so she is in constant motion, keeping an eye on every move the boys make. Until she gets tired and then she is very cranky, whiny.......and still trying to keep an eye on them while attempting to nap.

The cat goes MIA until his ample stomach needs fed. Then he tries to sneak through under the radar.

The fish gets fed more than he should.

The horses get a mini vacation and have to be on their best behaviour during feeding time because two little boys are fast and do not always listen to their grandmother.

Do yeah, they are all relaxing and napping I am sure.
