I didn't see a help/problems forum, and it's stated the chats are user run and not official CM rooms, so I thought I'd ask in the off topic discussion and maybe someone would know.

I've tried every which way of getting into the chats, short of just turning off my firewall/av. I've port forwarded on both firewall and router, put CM on the list of safe sites, deactivated RT scanning (only to try connecting). I've tried IE7 and 8, FireFox (newest vers. and the one right before it too), I've updated java and adobe flash, etc, etc....

I am still getting the 'Error: Click for Details" message and the applet isn't loading.

So, basically all I want to know is, 1. is there an easy way to fix it, or hopefully.... 2., is there another way to access the chats, perhaps via an IRC client or some other widget?

Thanks in advance,
JS

P.S. I really don't suppose I can really get in trouble for posting something in an off topic forum open to all topics anyways :P

edit: weird formatting error... I really should start hitting "preview" before posting

I had the same trouble with the chat here. With mirc, I get a "software caused connection abort," and with the java feature I get some other error message.
