The OPs of these types of threads seems to give insufficient thought to the idea that increased deleting of profiles would be a multi-edged weapon with the capacity to hack away all kinds . . . . & if one cannot imagine the weapon hacking their own profile away, maybe the problem is lack of imagination . . . . . . .

LMAO, Some people drive me crazy. Clears the Throat WHO THE FUCK CARES? Since when did we all become the cyber Police? Are you that fucking Miserable that you can't realize that the internet is FULL of people pretending to be people they are not and looking for wank material or to deceivce. I Managed a POPULAR Group on Obsidian before they shut down. I was on daily checking IP's and pinging IP's and doing what I could to make sure we had real live people behind every ID that I had for the group. I only had 150 ID's Now how many ID's do you think CollarMe has? Who do you think is supposed to check every ID to make sure they are real people? Or make sure that on a FREE FUCKING SITE..... That means it costs you NO FUCKING MONEY...That everyone you contact is an actual girl? Because OBVIOUSLY you aren't conserned about How many Men are really men on this site or how many ID's the MEN have... No you are upset because of the amount of searching you have to do on a FREE SITE to find someone worth talking to who will let you see them naked. Exactly Steel, right with you there. I mean you don't go into a hospital and start pointing out patients and say 'I think this is a fake patient, please have them removed at once..' Try walking into your local bar and accusing someone with a drink of being a fake. Hey, I think my boss is a fake, should he be sacked? The way I see it you create an account and fill out a profile as a *USER* of this site, nothing more. It does *not* grant you ownership of this site, or co-ownership. It does *not* automatically place you on a par with those running the site, the Moderators or anyone else. It does *not* grant you any special rights or privileges over the other users of this site whether presumed to be real, living, dead, fictitious or otherwise. In fact in acting as the Collarme Self-Appointed Police Force you go against not just the ethos of this website but also the underlying principles of what brings us all here. Just my 0.02

It's really funny how many connotations of why I started this thread have taken seed and begun a life of their own. I just got home from work so I haven't seen this thread since last night. Today during lunch I pondered what thread I could start that would garner exactly this sort of response because of the couple replies that showed up last night. I guess now I don't have to. For the record...this thread was intended as a report to the moderators to help eliminate some of the fake profiles...that's all. There is no provision for reporting multiple fake profiles in their automated reporting feature...only stealing someone else's photos. I realize eliminating fake profiles is like holding back the tide with a teaspoon but every once in a while it makes you feel good just to put forth the effort. That said, if everyone wants to continue spinning it a million different ways please be my guest. It's what makes this forum so lively.

Thanks...I saw that button and clicked it but it only gives you a half dozen report reasons, none of which deal with this situation. It even says it's not reviewed by a Moderator so I suppose it just counts how many times someone reports it and then who knows. But like I said before, this is the first and last time for me to use a post to report. I wasn't expecting so many interpretations of why I made the post or for people to have a coronary over it.

Hmm, I have to agree with the OP on some level, but not for the reasons he has. I'm more concerned with the fact that theres no adequate way of reporting more serious things than just fake profiles. By this I am referring to reporting serious things such as potential underage people (and don't try to tell me there aren't under 18 people on there posing as 18+ there are). Note that having a system where a dozen or more people have to 'report' said account to report it - to say nothing of the fact that such reports aren't even reviewed, is simply not adequate. As for the issue of this place bring moderated by volunteers and it being a free site.. seriously, thats not an excuse. If a 'volunteer' is unable or unwilling to do their job properly, they shouldn't be doing it in the first place. Just because a site is free doesn't mean its ok for people to exploit it in any way, or not to enforce the TOS. On that note if I were running this place there is no way in hell I would ever have volunteer staff. Too many companies, communities and websites have had actions brought against them by volunteers and by people that were harassed and such by 'volunteer' admin staff. Contrary to popular belief a company is liable for the actions of its volunteer staff and said staff have more rights than people know. That being said... the biggest issue I have here is more an implied one. Look at some peoples profile pics: nudes, explicit, obviously fake, artwork, etc.. this is all in violation of their TOS. While I don't care about that part of it it does make me wonder what other questionable things are being done/things 'overlooked' by staff if they can't even enforce such a simple and basic part of their TOS.

Fair enough. I should have been more specific. By 'obviously fake' I am referring to pics that are obviously pics taken from another site. Meaning obvious model shots (like out of a porn site or magazine kind of thing, you know, obvious) and similar pics. Its not really that hard to look at a pic and tell whether or not its 'real' and taken by a person via their camera or webcam, rather than a stolen pic thats been ripped off some porn site. EDIT: and lets not forget people with pics that show a woman that doesn't match the race listed on the profile. Do they even bother to check that before approving it?

No they don't check it,they don't really have the time. There is also no real way of insuring that underage people are not using the site by pretending to be 18+. Would you prefer they use a credit card to prove age? Some of us don't use credit cards, we're old fashioned and prefer to buy what we can afford. If you feel that the reporting/reviewing that is being done is inadequate, then by all means volunteer and pitch in to help, but if you aren't willing to do that, then you really have no basis for complaint. Put your time where your mouth is,so to speak.

Well there are ways of verifying. Like you said theres the credit card verifiers. Though my concern is more about the admins not doing anything themselves to at least make an effort to scan through a few profiles and look for questionable people claiming to be 18+. Or at the very least to add a system that would make it easier to actually report people that are underage. Despite what it sounds like i'm not bitching about it, i'm genuinly concerned that such a basic system doesn't exist on this site. Credit card wise, I know what you mean, I don't use them either and I know its not a perfect solution but it would keep the minors off the site. That being said, I actually do make a note of usernames of people that appear to be underage that I come across and I do email lists of them in to CM. So far they have done nothing about it. Speaking of volunteering, i'm quite willing to. It wouldn't be the first time i've done that kind of volunteer work. I was a volunteer for UO, Meridian 59, the rpg toolkit programming community and a couple of similar sites. Not a fun job but i'm used to it. Hell I got upwards of 100,000 emails a week for tech support for Meridian alone (btw catch-all emails are NOT your friend) So I do know what the mods here go through and i'm not bitching at them. I'm just saying the system could use some improvements.

I thought I would add something for those who may be interested. Each night I go through the new members list on the left side of the webpage starting with where I left off from the previous night. I do this for the fun of it and it's there that I began noticing the fake profiles I mentioned. I do not sit and browse profiles as one might think. Once those profiles move off the list they are forgotten. Tonight I picked up on something else that appears new...perhaps it's not. I'm seeing new profiles with photos I've seen before in the past month or so on other profiles. What's different is these profiles have an in depth description stating right up front they are fake and basically warn everyone not to believe what they are seeing. I can't tell if the profile is a warning from the "real" person or just somebody playing games. Weird world we live in.

Many for tos violations, illegal conduct, etc... underage wise, its pretty obvious when someone looks 15, lists their age as 18 and shows that they signed up a year or more ago. Some are pretty obvious. Hell one of them had stuff in their profile about doing some unpleasant stuff at 9 years old, saying how 'ok' it was and quite a bit worse than that. So I reported it. Guess what? not a thing was done about that. the site could get in a very serious situation if their failure to remove that was reported.

I'm not so sure how well the credit card thing would work.. How DOES that work, anyway? I mean, how does a credit card verify age? I dont have a credit card, only a debit card. But I know a 17 yr old that has 3 major cards in her name.
