Termyn8or -> What's in a name ? (8/25/2009 12:09:07 AM)

How did you choose your CM handle ? I mean the more cryptic ones.

Mine is not cryptic, I got it in RL because I used to be strong. For example everyone used to want me to help them move. I would pull a chest of drawers out of the back of a truck, lift it BY ONE END and hand the other end to another. I would lift and load things that most normal people would never attempt. I had the strongest back in town. One day someone saw me loading a piece of furniture on a truck myself and couldn't believe it could be done. Eventually the name Terminator was upon me and I accepted. Older now it more applies to my thought process, so it still sticks.

Now some here have names that make sense, his this, her that, things like that. But some are so cryptic that really, if you were trying to say something about yourself, we didn't catch it. So why not cough it up now ? These crazy handles belong to people who picked them, did they not want that to express something ?

So, thinking about this subject I decided to head for Poll and Random Stupidity, such as it is. Seems appropriate to me.

Some names explain themselves, but for example we got "Master", but after that G2KTR or something. WTF does that mean ? Tell us, enquiring minds want to know, at least one is curious that I know of. But everybody can join in. If you meant something by it, let us in on this completely open secret. Don't keep an inside joke all to yourself, it ain't no fun.

LdyyR -> RE: What's in a name ? (8/25/2009 12:22:25 AM)

I tried for LadyRooster, but it said on cockadoodle way. That's how I ended up with lddyR. My story and I'm sticking with it. OK, I really need to get some sleep.

I'm here purely for pleasure, hence purepleasure.

gather around kids, pull up a seat by the fire and Liston to a tale among tales...

i have used the name vanity for years, on all sorts of sites. it started off around 19-20ish as VanityFish, the idea being i had recently gained alot of confidence in myself or 'vanity', i was also new to the idea of such confidence so i took the prison term 'fish'(newbie). basically it meant new to confidence.

after awhile in my personal life i developed some arrogance, a white knight complex (protect the world). then my life went crashing to pieces, i decided i needed to gain some humility and figure myself out, so i changed names to VanityFull as a show of how arrogant i viewed myself as and my current need to find myself and shed some of the 'vanity' i was full of.

after much soul searching i began to seek out some balance in my life, deal with some skeletons and fix/change things in my life, after setting up plans to do so i no longer liked VanityFull and its somewhat destructive image,
so to accept that i was fixing things in life it became VanityFix

edited to say my definition of vanity may be a little wonky, i dont care its a sexy world.. just rolls off your tounge.. go on say it!

darchChylde -> RE: What's in a name ? (8/25/2009 4:25:48 AM)

Short the pseudo-archaic spelling, my name is kinda obvious.

darchChylde = dark child

Maybe the "darch" part doesn't fit quite so well anymore, i think i am much less sad/angry/mysterious than once upon a time.  But "chylde" is still right on the money.  While i'm perverted, twisted and no long what many would call a spring chicken, i still believe i have a bit of the "lost little boy" in me and a surprising dose of naivete'.

But as for where the name came from, it was the name of one of my first live action rpg characters and Darch Chylde (spelling always the same, variations occuring in spacing and capitalization) has been my online persona for near 20 years now.

daintydimples -> RE: What's in a name ? (8/25/2009 5:03:35 AM)

I think mine is self explanatory.

What's in a name? said Shakespeare,
So spoke his boy Romeo
He said a rose would be the same
And smell as sweet by any other name.
I don't agree with Shakespeare
And I'm a real Romeo
I hate to fight with Shakespeare
But there's one thing I know,

There's a ring to the name of Rosie,
A ring ting-a-ling to the name of Rosie.
Other names you may say ring true,
So they do, but they ring for you.
I still cling to the name of Rosie,
There's something to the name of Rosie,
That gives our hearts that ring a Rosie,
Think it sounds so mellow to me and cozy.
Ting-a-ling, ling-a-ling,
There's a ring to the name of Rose.

dreamofthemoon -> RE: What's in a name ? (8/25/2009 5:46:25 AM)

mine's just something i thought up, really. i was (and still am) a bit interested in astrology at the time, and since i heard my sign is ruled by the moon, i thought it kinda fit.

Though (and i know this is from an old thread), i'd still like to think it happened more like sunshinemiss said here, hehe...

happylittlepet -> RE: What's in a name ? (8/25/2009 5:56:14 AM)

LinnaeaBorealis -> RE: What's in a name ? (8/25/2009 7:46:44 AM)

Mine is the Latin name for the flower for which I was named.   It is also known as the twin flower & was Carl Von Linnaeus's favorite flower.

beargonewild -> RE: What's in a name ? (8/25/2009 8:02:51 AM)

My close friends have referred to me as a bear and it also is a term for a sub group in the gay community of furry and large in stature men: the Bear community. It is a group to which I closely identify with and am a apart of.
"gonewild" is an accurate reflection to my personality I have now compared to 10 years ago when I was quiet and too passive natured. It also indicates that as I grow as a person, it is not at a steady rate but  in fast spurts or in a wild manner, hence beargonewild. Plus it can be taken as me not being tamed by another and have that wild spirit!

peachgirl -> RE: What's in a name ? (8/25/2009 8:08:31 AM)

when I was lighthearted, it was a name I had chosen for myself based on my personality.

he calls me his peach, which is where my current nick came from.  I decided I wanted to have a new nick based on something more meaningful to me.

VirginPotty -> RE: What's in a name ? (8/25/2009 8:09:41 AM)

I blame Sirsholly for mine.[8|]

GreedyTop -> RE: What's in a name ? (8/25/2009 8:24:34 AM)

it started as GreedyBottom over on aol.. a nickname I got from a fem top I played with...   when I discovered that I have a sadistic streak a mile or so wide....well, it progressed to this :)

Lashra -> RE: What's in a name ? (8/25/2009 8:28:42 AM)

I used to roleplay a lot online and my favorite race was the drow. So I had a drow high priestess and her name was Lashra. I really liked the name so I carried it over to here.

sappatoti -> RE: What's in a name ? (8/25/2009 8:30:31 AM)

While there isn't any literal meaning behind my screen name, at least one inspired soul has created an intriguing back story.

Thank you Stella.
