UKEvolutionary -> Is it possible ? (8/25/2009 12:45:15 AM)

My "pet project" as some may know, is discovering and advising on the subject of subspace and it's aftercare.

One question that I've had trouble finding out about is Overdosage.

My girl and I had a long play session in which she dropped into subspace a few times. Obviously with the normal care for her, water, comfort etc etc she came out of subspace with no real "problems" except for one (W/we stopped playing after this !! ) she went into subspace like a click of a light switch, just like passing out !! When she came out of subspace, she felt "pukey" and "rotten" (This may have been good for "Roman showers", but W/we don't do that !!) anyway, she did hurl and this started Me wondering.
With "Normal" opiates such as Morphine, it's possible to OD and that will shut down the respitory centres in the brain so what happens is that you stop breathing ! Morphine is well known for making people "throw up"
It made Me think that the body was "protecting" itself against overdosage but I still wondered if it was possible for anyone to overdose on their own endorphins especially as the very word "endorphine" means Morphine like ??

So ..... Is it possible ?

Well that's a new one on Me, as a Domme I've not seen that even in My spaciest sub ... as a sub, i've never felt that way either. I will watch this thread with interest! Just one question ... where was she in her monthly cycle at the time? I have found that does influence subspace and particularly subdrop quite a lot.

Just raised this with Master as an eg of a really good question that keeps Me on these forums! He pointed out that neither He (nor I as Domme) tend to play in such a way that someone drops in and out of space ... we tend to play so the space gradually develops and intensifies, and once they get to Deep Space 9, we just allow them to bliss out and come out gradually. He thinks it might be less a matter of overdose and more a matter of the body being unable to keep up with the cycles. Hormones typically act slowly and in a prolonged manner (unlike nerves which are fast and short term) so pushing hormones to act in cycles might be the issue. Very interesting nonetheless!

Hi MaamJay
My girl's a "mature" lady that has passed through any troubles with periods, only just though I might add !! lol, but having one or two "residual problems" I would have said that it would have been mid-way through her cycle.

ranja -> RE: Is it possible ? (8/25/2009 1:28:03 AM)

maybe it has nothing to do with playing... maybe she got ill because she ate something wrong or she has a virus...

or maybe her outer space experience was flying with too much turbulence... like a rollercoaster

or maybe you did stuff to her that did not agree with her while she was unable to respond adequately... like some hypno 'victims' experience nausea after being put under and made to do stuff they really rather not...

or maybe summit else?

MaamJay -> RE: Is it possible ? (8/25/2009 1:51:12 AM)

Hi UK, I'm in a similar state Myself ... but the hormonal effects can still bob around a bit even once the periods cease for a while. I had sudden awful cramps the other night that just came out of nowhere! So if she's only just ... it could still be having some effect.

ranja offered a few other ideas there ... did she have any other signs or symptoms that would indicate other illness? Fever, ongoing diarrhoea for eg? Or was it one hurl, a rest and then she was OK? I found the turbulence idea interesting! I'm sure she would have said to You already if it was the latter case, You and she seem to have good communication going on. You didn't indicate she didn't enjoy any aspect of the play, just that she obviously didn't enjoy feeling pukey afterwards! I can understand that.

i've only had to stop a play session once as sub but that time i was feeling faint and it was a bondage session. Disappointing as Master had got me in a really interesting position too! But next day i started a period so i do feel that had some influence. i also used to get nauseous/diarrhoea fairly often when periods were due so that's why i asked about that.

I've felt that way after an intense session.

I was puking all night and my head was swimming.

It was from an overstimulation. Coming down off of an adrenaline rush can leave you feeling ill sometimes.

Just make sure you stay warm and drink plenty of fluids..stay hydrated and get some nutrients into your system and you'll be fine.

The fact that you say she dropped into subspace a few times concerns me. There is such a thing as overstimulation. Hitting that plateau once in a session should be considered the end of play IMHO. It is no wonder she wasn't well. From my point of view, when I have hit that plateau, I am so far out of it, that I am not even sure I could give you my correct name, or would care to do so even if I could. It is at that time I am quite vulnerable to everything, and I was blessed with a Dom that understood this, and stopped play immediately and gave me wonderful aftercare. I never experienced subdrop, and am very glad of it, I have heard it is an ugly thing. I have cared for a friend who was left by an incredibly either stupid or uncaring Dom (no disrespect to Doms/Dommes who are caring), and I had to go get her, because she was left alone with nothing. It took her days to recover herself. Maybe you need to look to yourself. There is such a thing as way too much.

LillyoftheVally -> RE: Is it possible ? (8/25/2009 4:44:07 AM)

I have had drops where I shake, cry and feel intensely depressed, sometimes getting a headache, but nothing that you describe, I would be tempted to rule out any medical issues that may be there, just to be safe. Though what you are describing does indeed sound possible.

Missokyst -> RE: Is it possible ? (8/25/2009 6:23:58 AM)

Have you considered not pulling the poor woman out of subspace and just letting her ride through?  Start stop start stop, ect can't be a good thing.  I have played for hours at a time and we always let the dropping out phase happen naturally.  To pull it out deliberately would be like.. turning the ignition and hearing it turn over, then flipping it back off and doing it again and again.  You will get to a point where the car will grind.

UKEvolutionary -> RE: Is it possible ? (8/25/2009 7:17:26 AM)

Some interesting posts here, and I thank you ALL for that, and by "KCalli's" response, I surely WILL only let My girl go into subspace and then stop play. As KCalli said, it would be "irresponsible" of Me to repeat the scenario she just experienced, and I have to agree ..... ONCE is enough to enjoy, more is, as she says, "way too much."

Oh believe Me, I have learnt and I only want what's BEST for My girl.

As for "Missokyst's" response, I let My girl come out of subspace "naturally", although there has been an occasion where she has "struggled" and has panicked, so It's up to Me to "read" her when in subspace, whether to let her come out "naturally" or to bring her out, which I feel I have done "reasonably well" until the latest episode that prompted this question. And even though I appreciate the input, it STILL doesn't answer My question !!!

DesFIP -> RE: Is it possible ? (8/25/2009 9:11:30 AM)

UK, you're confused about menopause. Just because we don't have strong enough hormonal changes to cause monthly bleeding doesn't mean our hormones are suddenly stable. They still fluctuate over a cycle. And yes, nausea is known to occur during a cycle.

Beyond that, if I was being dragged into subspace and back out, and repeatedly I would well imagine being sick afterwards. I'm a proponent of being allowed to come out of it on my own. The times I haven't, I have been shaky afterwards. Understandable that afterseveral repeated episodes of this she would be ill.

Missokyst -> RE: Is it possible ? (8/25/2009 10:29:22 AM)

Thanks Des, that is what I thought I said too.
That in and out crap has got to suck.  Kinda like riding 6 roller coasters in an hour.  If I am riding one for a long time that is great.  But make me get off and on another over and over am I it takes 5 hours for me to have the ability to puke up my guts.

UKEvolutionary -> RE: Is it possible ? (8/25/2009 8:22:07 PM)

Again, thanks all for the input especially regarding My girls hormonal state which, being a Guy, One tends not to understand fully !! I thank DesFIP for the "heads up"
Quote:- "UK, you're confused about menopause. Just because we don't have strong enough hormonal changes to cause monthly bleeding doesn't mean our hormones are suddenly stable. They still fluctuate over a cycle. And yes, nausea is known to occur during a cycle."

I get the "rollercoaster" comparison, and as I stated earlier, Oh believe Me, I have learnt and I only want what's BEST for My girl. I let My girl come out of subspace "naturally", although there has been an occasion where she has "struggled" and has panicked, so It's up to Me to "read" her when in subspace, whether to let her come out "naturally" or to bring her out, which I feel I have done "reasonably well"
So her "reaction" could have been one of hormonal origins or MY OWN FAULT for not stopping "play" after she went into subspace and came out "normally" without My need to bring her out !! I get ALL that, and IF I'm to "blame" then I will correct My actions accordingly. I already have, in the way that once she goes into subspace, I don't intend to "put her at risk" by continuing play once she's recovered from it !!

However, with all this good information and assistance, I am still hoping that someone can answer My initial question !!!

Is it possible for anyone to overdose on their own endorphins, or has the body got it's own "protective measures" ?

aldompdx -> RE: Is it possible ? (8/26/2009 1:18:13 AM)

When the body is sufficiently violated, it goes into shock. Subspace is itself the result of the overdose which has already happened.

UKEvolutionary -> RE: Is it possible ? (8/26/2009 5:17:36 AM)

Ahh thank you aldompdx.
